Even with RA10, there is no requirement to post. As long as you register, you see RA10 stuff. When I was mod, I discovered that newbies could not put RA on their threads. I asked admin to enable that function, and he said no. Advertisers have probably signed up, expecting a certain number of page views. If threads become RA10 minimum again and page views drop, would advertisers be happy? It is not our website, so we must accept the final decision or move on to a website with advertising. If jake can convince admin to change, great. I just hope it doesn't lead to our side being swallowed up by the Chinese forum if the site becomes unprofitable.
obe: "You can't keep doing the same things and expect different results...." This suggests mods do nothing. Not correct. As twice has stated, we tried all sorts of things. I have no issue with trying other things if mods go down that path, but it is important that the K system in place is not significantly devalued. It was designed to encourage report writing, and writing reports should be the quickest way to move up the ranks. If Ks can be freely given everywhere and in huge numbers, why bother reporting? Sure, you are going to have loads of people chatting here, hoping to get +10K from overly generous seniors, but how will it promote report writing - the lifeblood. That has not been answered.
About giving RA30+ members negging power, that was in response to your reply in #11: "Possibly we should give RA 30 members and above the power to do a negative 1 Karma. This way the forum members can keep people in check in these sections who are clearly doing one liners to earn karma points." Your proposal is not much different from what has already been implemented. Throbbing Titans (RA70) can neg. The reason given is mentioned in this mod announcement:

TBH, I think this is something MODS should be discussing. If you feel so heavily invested in this, join the team and be part of the decision making. It is very easy to tell mods what they should be doing, knowing you are not accountable for the final outcome. I will sign off from this thread, and leave it up to those in charge to make the decisions.
