#5 Post at 19-11-2009 15:04  Profile P.M.  Font size: S M L Reply #4 angst's post not only that, but he was offside as well. my US team isn't doing very well.  They pretty much sucked big time in their two friendlies vs. Slovakia and Denmark.  Their starting forward Charlie Davies will undoubtedly miss the WC after the horrendous car crash.  MF Jermaine Jones from Schalke 04 looks not to be ready until after the winter break.  US's best defender Oguchi Onyewu is out until the spring.  Outside of the guys I just mentioned, there's only about 3 or 4 players on the team who possibly could start on one of the upper teams in the EPL or La Liga - MF Landon Donovan, F Clint Dempsey and GK Tim Howard.

Now if there was any justice the extra time would be replayed or Henry banned from matches at the world cup, but the way they lost is just wrong. I was also hoping Portugal miss out but oh well, go USA!

#18 Post at 20-11-2009 01:10  Profile P.M.  Font size: S M L why China, India, and Russia, 3 of the most populous countries in the world, can't get teams to the WC is beyond me.  At least Russia came close and has the excuse that they lost a lot when all the neighboring USSR countries split off.  And I guess India has an excuse since everyone plays cricket and not soccer.  But China?  1.5 billion people and they have more players playing in the basketball NBA league than they have players playing in the top Euro leagues.

Only lately they have been trying to give soccer a real go. I suppose you can't have them all... give it another 5-10 years when they splurge more money into sports.
