Cantonese restaurant recommendations?

Hi All Bros,

Although not strictly a food forum I wanted to seek inputs from the bros here...what restaurant would you choose in HK for a fantastic Cantonese dinner for four in HK?  Budget would probably be about $3500.  Food is of course the primary focus but of course given the budget it is about total package.  We'll have two N.Americans with us with adventerous palates (downright European).  We don't need crazy good abalone or shark's fin (though it would be nice) so I figure the budget should be decent.

Hey, before I feel the flames...I figure there are a good number of bros with some disposable income here (well less after the puntering addiction is fed) so not a bad place to ask.

Of course there is always a dai pai dong and I could abscond with the rest of the money and get a nice HG for an overnight!

I would recommend Yung Kee Restaurant in Central for good Chinese food - famous for roast Goose. You can check their food and prices on their website - http://www.yungkee.com.hk/

if you can read chinese, you can try skimming through openrice.com.  It has user reviews on restaurants all over HK and the search filters are pretty decent.

"Although not strictly a food forum" ...    R U from another planet ?

for 4 people $900 is a high budget for Cantonese food without abalone or shark's fin !
Summer Palace at the Island Shang is worth going to for the ambiance and quality of food.

If you do want the abalone and/or shark's fin and your budget is 3.5K than I would suggest a less upmarket place
like Tsui Hang Village rest where the food is excellent but ambiance less so ... try their cha sui - best in HK !

LOL...well I am a bamboo shoot and sometimes I think I am from another planet.

Thanks for the recommends...I am not excluding the exotics but they aren't a prerequisite.  I know that they can drive up the cost of dining very quickly.  I was basing the budget on our U.S. staff/exec dinners which can run in that range.  Last time I did this in HK we ended up at Yan Toh Heen in the InterCon in TST...it was under the expense account from a client but it has set the top end mark for my bosses for spend in HK.

I forgot about Tsui Hang.  Openrice is out for me...pretty pics.  Sort of like the Chinese side of 141.

Thanks!

Fu Sing Shark Fin Seafood Restaurant http://www.womguide.com/restaura ... seafood-restaurant1

Nuff said! The best I have had so far in my short time in HK. Even if you are going for dinner, you have to request the baked pork buns!

If you want classic dim sum then i went to Chuk Yuen Seafood restaurant a few weeks back which
was good. Or Maxim's where they have the trolleys.
