Masseur vs. Masseuse, 'ESL' Issues

Hey guys, I've seen this error in 'english' (actually french) usage come up several times.  From a recent post:

"got her cel number before session with real massuer begins.  "  The poster was referring to a massage session at a typical sauna.

If you're getting a massage by a MAN that provider is referred to as a "masseur" (a french term, but used universally).  If you're getting a massage by a WOMAN then that provider is referred to as a "masseuse" (again, a french term).

I certainly do not mean to criticize anyone's english usage on this website, those who speak english as a second language here are doing far, far better at it than I'm doing with my miserable canto.  Just thought you all would like to know the proper gender and usage before you show up in the U.S. or Europe and request a "masseur" from the hotel massage staff!

I didn't do it.  Really I didn't.

But I think most people just say they want a massage. Best to avoid that French lingo bro.

So true Mr. Pisser, and while it may be safe to just order "a massage" in Asia, knowing that a girl will show up at your door, doing so in the U.S. or Europe is a crap shoot.  If you don't specify the gender of your massage practioner there's a 50/50 chance you'll find yourself on the receiving end of a rubdown from a guy named "eter" who's way too interested in your junk!

Uh, you bros are blaming the wrong people.  Let's not forget that those languages are derivatives of Latin, hence they maintain the use of masculine, feminine and neuter genders.

It could be worse.  If the Thai language used genders, they'd have masculine, feminine, and katoey...

Have fun, CGP
