Pajamas? haven't worn pajamas in 40 years, I think I would get arrested if I turned up at a WG  in my bedroom attire.

Awesome!

Occurs to me you could share the address, to be used as an excuse by visiting punters, when requested by security ...

... but maybe after you left

I would be interested to see pictures of this place.  200 square feet is really small.  That's about the size of two WG rooms?  What do they cram into it furniture wise?

Thanks!  200 feet isn't terrible if it's like 14 x 14 when all you really need is a bed but I've gotten cheaper hotels with my agent here in NYC.  I once landed a decent sized hotel room for 60 USD, so about 470 HKD per night for 3 weeks with 2 beds,  free water, free daily fruit, free wifi and wired and even a pool and exercise room.

I've seen places in MK that advertise like 200 a night, I've never partaken but I'd really like to see how it looks like, these are the same ones that advertise by the hour, one specific one that I recall in MK is called the SPANISH HOTEL or something like that , with a white sign and red lettering, I passed it daily on my wait to breakfast.

Those would be guest-houses, not hotels

Some are really crummy and run-down, the most notorious low-end ones being in Chungking Mansions ...

but the better-run ones are really nice, almost as good as a real hotel but without the big glitzy reception area and ancilliary facilities that you probably don't need anyway.  Had some good experiences before I put down roots.

For those on a budget, HK has a LOT of guest-houses, and they're worth checking out.

Are they the kinds of places where you can show up, look, and then decide?  Or do you need to reserve a room?

Of course, most of the time you can show up and politely inquire "may I see a room please?"

... except for peak periods, where they're fully booked up, the reputable ones will be delighted to show you ...
and those that want your money before showing their wares?  well ... you can let your imagination answer the question why!

As with everything, there's a high end and a low end ...
the low end have no windows, are dirty, humid, and smell a bit stale ...
but the good ones are well-maintained, have everything you need: bed(s), ensuite toilet and bath, aircon, direct-dial telephone, TV, clean boiled drinking water, windows, curtains, and may even have storage for your clothes (we're talking budget travelling here!!).

Once upon a time Lonely Planet had a good list, but I'm sure things have moved on in the internet age ... seek and ye shall find ...

I think I've spoiled myself with decent priced hotels

On average I think I pay about 460 HKD a night at certain hotels "near" MK but for New Yorker this is very walkable and far from the spoiled feet of some people.  On a normal day I walk a good 2 miles when I am in HK, MK to YMT is nothing but a 8 minute stroll.  Hell, I've even done To Ka Wan to MK before just to see how HK really is.

I digress, just saying why someone would pay so much to live in a not so nice place.  I'm still curious what a 138 per night room looks like! LOL

Did anyone mention www.booking.com yet?

Off-peak you can get awesome deals on hotels, when they dump their excess capacity online - "real" hotels (with receptions and bell-boys and such like) in central locations for $500 or even less

and I checked: much lower rates than the same hotel if you called late in the afternoon and asked for their "late check-in rate".  Literally, I was standing in the lobby one time, asking to extend a booking by another night at the same rate, and they told me to use the computer in the corner to make another new booking online!

Just looking back thru my old posts and thought I would give an update on my stay here, the room was not bad with a double bed a small table with 1 chair for the laptop a cupboard, small kitchen (never used it why would you with all the great food at your door) aircon and a shitter/shower.

I found it a great place to stay a 2/5 min walk maximum from the bars. Never had to sign anything when entering no matter what the time, but the old timer security guard was used to me coming in with a girl all the time and would just smile.

Big disappointment was not getting to try a walk up. i did check several floors but nothing that led me to beluieve there were any WG left in the building.

Returning in May and have booked the smaller room direct with the owner as i checked them out last time and they were fine as I am only there to punt and sleep the rest of the time is for eating and drinking in Wan Chai.

I have already arranged for my DH to meet me at the airport when I arrive and she has promised several hours of bed sports with some special treats thrown in once we get to the apartment.
God i cannot wait, anybody know of a high paying job going in HK for a serial sex and alcohol addict?
