I second looking4c4c's comment -- no unsafe parts of Macau to walk in at any time of the day or night streets, alleys, harborfronts, underpasses, etc. -- all have seemed perfectly safe to me, even at 3am on a Sat/Sun morning. It's one of the nice things about Macau (HK very safe too, of course).

So it's all about the distance and weather. Taxis are cheap. One of the reasons I don't stay in Cotai/Taipa is that there always seems to be a wait for a taxi at the big hotels. Whereas in the older part of Macau, not only are taxis very plentiful, but you often don't need one because everything is so close. Still, nothing beats the opulence of a big Taipa hotel like the Venetian. Just not quite as convenient as something downtown like MGM or Rio. Grand Lisboa is fairly opulent, and downtown, but always seems expensive on agoda.com

Has anybody done the walk to D2?  How long does it take?  Safe part of town?  Been to D1 many times but never D2.  Thinking about it for this weekend.

have you not read the previous 2 posts????!!!
How long it takes to walk to D2 really depends on where you are starting!!

If you tried to walk to D1 from the ferry station it would take about 5 minutes
(you should know this if you really have been).
If you tried to walk to D2 from the ferry station it would take about 35 minutes.

At what speed are you walking? Normally one can walk about 6 km per hour which translates into 17 minutes for 1700 m.
Give it 20 and you are on the safe side.

Macau is so small that you can get everywhere in no time. Just get a map and hitch a ride on the shuttle busses between the casinos and ferry terminals. There is also a shuttle bus from CoD that stops not far from the AIA tower. It stops kind of between Grand Lisboa and the AIA Tower. Although you can walk from Grand Lisboa in 5 minutes too, or even less if you walk fast like me.
