Gherk I agree with the view of sogo, the corner of the International, salisbury garden and the HK museum of art it has to be the Sheraton, there is a slight possiblity of being the Peninsula but Sheraton is definitely the #1 choice. I think I have actully had this exact view before.

there are 3 hotels there but the only hotel that will have SOGO almost directly in front is the sheraton, the picture was taken on the 8 - 10th floor ... now tell us what's so interesting about these pics ?  you got them from your GF/SO's phone or computer ?

The hotel is obvious for anyone who knows the area, concur it's the Sheraton... but 8th - 10th floor LOL... that is brilliant work Sherlock! how you know this?

Jack,
from memory only, I think there are several bars, a fitness centre and communal business centres with computers etc on the mid level floors... in other words the pics "may" not have been taken from someone's room.

Digging deeper...

@ Twice - Your flair for angles is impressive! Myself, I had to count the floors of the Intercontinental to get it.

@ Tony - Thanks for the chin-up. Unfortunately I have irrefutable evidence that it is indeed a hotel room. Note the very tousled bedsheets.

Also, calling all Sherlocks: does the television programme offer any clue as to what time of the day it is? Morning or afternoon? This is a couple of days ago.

Hmmm, seems the EXIF "profile" data on the pic has been removed.  Most cameras or phones burn basic data in (including the date/time taken, camera settings, etc.).  This usually has to be deliberately removed.  Kinda odd, right? Just a few bits of data remain -- your gal use a Motorola phone?

Anyway, kinda hard for me to guess what time of day -- looks like morning with the quality of light -- but this is meaningless given hotel windows are usually heavily filtered anyway.

Good luck.

Actually -- it could be this site's uploader that stipped all the Exif data out.  Google EXIF READER and try the pics directly.  Maybe the date and timestamps are on the original pics.

- Like everyone else above said, it's the Sheraton. I've stayed there and have take similar angle photos myself.

- As for the time of day, the clouds make this difficult to tell. The shadows (look at Avenue of the Stars and that yellow ship in the middle) suggest that it's between 11 am and 2 pm with the sun directly above/south, but the clouds throw away that suggestion.

- However, the messy bedsheets suggest that the bed has been used. Sheraton checkout time is 12 pm which creates two scenarios: 1.) The person is going to check out soon, thus suggesting the time is before 12 pm; or 2.) The person booked multiple nights, doesn't have to check out, hasn't made the bed and housekeeping hasn't come to clean the room either, thus suggesting the time is before 4 pm (my own experience from multiple years of staying at the Sheraton is that housekeeping comes by any time between 12 pm and 3 pm).

- You could look up (or remember) Hong Kong's weather the past week to see which day(s) were cloudy between 10 am and 4 pm to narrow down what day the photos were taken.

- A lot of programs and websites remove the EXIF data from photos. Given that the photos are sized 680x480, that suggests that either they were taken with an old, non-smartphone and thus wouldn't have the EXIF data or the photos were uploaded to a website which resized the photos and stripped the EXIF data.

I think, it should be morning... The bed is messy... You either check out at 12 or someone will come and clean your room around that time. Unless they stayed several days in the room..

Id go for early afternoon with Freelancer on this one. Sun goes down on the far right (this is facing south) and there is a lot of shadows under the bridge meaning that its around 12 to 2 pm.
Days last 13 hours at the moment so peak is around 1pm. Given the shadow, it is more 2pm than 12. And late check outs are possible in any hotel. I just did that last week with that chick...   nah, dont worry, never been there, hope its not your SO!

Amazing!

You guys are incredible! Yes, the EXIF data has been stripped so no help there. I don't need to know the temperature in the room but a fix on the room number might be helpful. South facing, probably 10th floor, likely southeast corner - maybe 1025 or 1027?

And no, it is not my SO!

Here's one more pic. If you look really hard, you might be able to make out the vague outlines of the person taking the pic reflected in the window pane. Its not easy to tell, but all I need to know if the person is a guy or a gal. And if you can also determine the height, weight and eye color of the person, I bow before your supreme-ness!

I sorta see a reflection of what looks like a person's head in the top left.  Sorta looks like medium-length hair which might indicate a women.

But of course, it could also be hyena.  Hard to tell.
