Studies into beauty show that in any given population (or culture) the concept of beauty is basically the average features of that population.  Yes it's in the eye of the beholder, and what the beholder finds beautiful is an unconscious "mid-point" of the features she or he's familiar seeing.  

What happens in mixed races is the children (F1 generation) are an average of the parents - so no surprised mixed races tend to be seen as physically attractive.  
In addition to which mixed races tend to have hybrid vigour and often have fewer genetic defects.  All that can add to the beauty factor.  

At an even more subtle level we also know "opposites attract" ... most usually it works in personality terms, but it also works in physical terms (e.g. male <-> female) ... which can result in couples naturally forming to create more "average" offspring.  Admittedly I've not read this studied anywhere so I'm extrapolating.

Macau would be my pick too, but I am surprised that nobody has yet mention Sichuan.  I think it has best natural looking girls.

I would agreed, been to Stockholm couple of times, there are beautiful girls everywhere.

first of all, what is beautiful cannot be defined. (kind of like me ) what we consider beautiful can only best be described as "having traits of beauty." (ie. symmetry, rhythm, proportion) vague, yes, but that is as close as we can come to understanding what beautiful is. beauty is universal and is not quantifiable, therefore it is impossible to have something that is more beautiful than something else. thus this thread is null because there is no such thing as "more beautiful." beautiful just is.

consider any picasso versus any michelangelo painting. you may like one more than another (and when u like one more than another, it leads to my next point) but one cannot argue that one is more beautiful than another.

how we think we quantify beauty is all based on personal interpretation, bias, and experience. thus, because we all have different biases and experiences, we are all "attracted" to different traits. but this attraction does not constitute what is beautiful. this all equaling the "eye of the beholder." given enough exposure and experience (culture) to certain sets of traits, one will naturally be drawn to said set of traits. i guess this would echo your point of "mid-point" and familarity. but familiarity also does not constitute beauty.

determining beauty has nothing to do with opposites. the idea of opposites being attractive is more of a psychological and genetic response, but again attractiveness is independent of the determination of beauty.

i disagree. beautiful can be defined.. as you mentioned it's your personal preference.  
that's why we are human beings with the freedom to choose what we want and make our own choices.

for my pick.. i find california girls are pretty attractive especially the mixed girls mentioned by Dartagnan

Beauty IS defined: it is a subjective judgement resulting in a relative degree of attraction.  

It is also measured, by a range of repeatable scientific methods, which quantify precisely that SUBJECTIVE quality.

In the context of physical beauty, it definitely DOES have a genetic component, which is again measurable and demonstrable, right down to factors that operate at an unconscious but predictable level to determine what it is one individual finds attractive.  You clearly have NO idea what you're talking about.

yes, you can try to throw out a dictionary definition that tries to explain what beauty is, but really, and u say it yourself, its subjective. and subjectiveness is rooted in everything i said before, but that does not, and i repeat does not define what beautiful is. all your scientific tests can conclude is that from a certain miniscule sample a certain percentage will agree that certain traits are beautiful. so all of a sudden those that agree something else is beautiful is null? come on, mr. scientist, think about what you are saying.

take a sample from africa, and then a sample from china. bam, your scientific tests of what is beautiful is hooped.

if something is beautiful, it is universal, beyond a subjective preference....

I was in China a few years ago and was very excited in Beijing.  Unfortunately  I has there during the winter when most of the girls where wearing heavy coats vs light summer clothes.  Maybe I might change my mind an place China as having the most the best stunners if I went during at a better time.

I agree with you that beauty cannot be defined, but it can be qualified at an individual level and a societal level, can't it?

But beauty standards change in time. Beauty standards of today, will change by the next generation.

Also, we tend to be bombarded by media... telling us what beautiful "should" be....


And to get back on topic, here's another vote for China... definitely the northern part.

I LOVE japanese and korean girls' faces... but in general their legs tend to be on the thick side.... (not all of them of course... but more so than chinese)

When I was touring Beijing some years back, I haven't seen one tall girl on the streets (not talking about WG), same goes for Shanghai (skinny and short).  So perhaps it was the timing or I didn't visit any hip place where all the pretty ones hang out.

But in Hangzhou, the tour girl was tall and pretty.  Come to think of it, the part time sales girl in the clothing store in Box Hill, Melbourne, Australia who is from Hangzhou was even better looking.  Best looking of all I still think is Kelly @ Eastern 25 .

So in my opinion looks like Melbourne, Australia has the best looking girls for me.

Most of the white girls stop coming down from Vladivostok or Khabavosk to Macau. Heard there was too much pressure from the saunas because these girls ( SW ) were taking business.  A few years ago, you find them all over town. You could have find them in part in Sun Sun Hotel or the park in front of the Royal Hotel at night. The cafe in the Lisboa Hotel and in front of the Lisboa.

Police really cracked down on them hard. I also heard Hollywood in Beijing is now closed for good.

My favor city for pretty girls are in Germany. I don't which city to pick.

this is totally subjective.. if you like asian girls, definitely seoul, taipei, tokyo or china.. blonde girls, then sweden, czech, etc.. if latin, then brazil, etc..  but since this site is based in asia and focused on china/HK/asia readers... taipei hands down.

Mongolia? Never expect that to be on the list. However to be fair, there have been several posts about Mongolian girls that members have described as gorgeous and i have had one myself and she was a beauty as well.

This thread isn't about some esoteric philosophical definition of beauty ... it's about what a guy finds beautiful in a woman and where he might find it.  I'm saying it's idiotic to say that cannot be defined nor measured, precisely because it can and is.  

So yes, you and I are indeed talking at different levels.  My point is that in the context of this thread it is unhelpful to suggest beauty is undefinable and intangible ... who the fuck does that help to understand his experience and find more of what he's looking for?  Maybe a philosopher who wants to put himself into a confused daze?  

My point is there ARE observations which are tangible and repeatable.  And these observations very interesting to help make practical choices about how we pursue our individual concept of beauty.  

Again, read my post, beauty is SUBJECTIVE.  Which means it is different in different places, and the absolute standards vary from one culture to another.  

What is interesting to note - specifically in the context of smilybob1's comment about finding mixed race girls attractive - is the tendencies that have been observed WITHIN SPECIFIC POPULATIONS, for the highest rating of "beauty" to be awarded to average features IN REFERENCE TO THAT POPULATION.  

Now, if for you chasing something indefinable and unquantifiable is your highest ideal, and that's your highest concept of beauty, go to it!  Look forward to your reports!!

ok all joking aside and this discussion about beauty (still interesting in my mind however) is not getting anywhere. all i am saying is that a question such as this, is subject to only subjectiveness. you will find good looking girls in every city and you will find ugly girls in every city. and seriously, what good is it when everyone just throws a city out here and says the best looking girls come from there? maybe my discussion on beauty doesnt help the question at hand, but to what ends is the topic striving to achieve?

if the spirit of this post is to reach a satisfying conclusion, perhaps this question be best re-proposed as a poll?

ps. if merely throwing out a city which i feel the best looking girls come from, sure, i'll pitch in and say tokyo. but five minutes later i am gonna change my mind and say hk. actually, maybe sichuan. taiwan is probably up there too. wait, florence and rome have hot girls too. oh, and paris too. i guess not much help to the post eh.

To me, this thread is not about exceptional beauties. EVERY city has those. To me it's about the
'normal' girls just walking in the streets. Some cities I hardly notice the girls, except for a few, other
cities, they seem to be all around me.
