Clottey is pretty big and durable and a good headbutter.  I think it's a tough fight for Pacquiao, but I've said that his last 4 or 5 fights and he always does fine.

this one will be a really tough one for the Pac Man.  Most of his other fights have been with fighers not at their peak and going downhill.  Don't get me wrong, Manny is perhaps my favorite fighter of all time, but it is somewhat true.  Cotto - took a beating from Margarito and Clottey.  Hatton - on the downside of his career.  Diaz - downside of his career.  De La Hoya - definitely the downside of his career.  Morales - same.  Barrera - same.  Even Marquez, who Manny has fought 2 close fights, at the downside of his career when they fought the 2nd time.

Clottey is still at the top of his game.  This I think will be a close fight, with a decision to Pacquiao.

This will be the very toughest fight for Manny based on my observations, consider the facts that Clottey is a more Solid Welterweight Boxer and a very Defensive Fighter ( Strong Chin and Dangerous Defense stance ). The Head-Butt strategy of Clottey is also one of the dangerous tactics Manny must avoid. If we can recall his first fight with Erik Morales, The Head cut proves to be the distracting point for r the performance of the Pacman.

I still believe that Pacman's speed plus his enormous punching power ( now that he's not anymore called the left handed power puncher but two-handed power puncher ) will destroy Clottey's Defense in the later rounds ( Agree with Grantorino2's prediction ).

Whatever happens on the fight, I on behalf of my fellow countrymen are happy and proud that Manny accomplished what other boxers never have done on their career. Win or Lose, We're here to support him. He resurrected the dying glory of boxing.

Surely it will count as one of the greatest event in the history of boxing. A Big Stadium, Two Great Fighters, and zero crime rate in the Philippines on fight night!

Still would have preferred to see Pacquiao fight Mayweather, but this fight will have to tide us over for now.  I'm a huge Pac Man fan, but I have some doubts about his focus coming into this fight after all the hype and drama from the Mayweather fight falling apart.

bro, if we follow the rationale you sited, if Pacman beats Clottey, people will say Clottey was demoralized by the lost to Cotto?

i've been skeptical of Pacquiao since he started, ( i still think he lost to Marquez the 2nd time, but he should have won the 1st) but he has slowly got me converted.

i see a stoppage in the 11th or 12th round

if pacquiao doesnt get overconfident and just follow the gameplan, i believe he will come out on top. he moved away from the gameplan in the cotto fight, letting cotto hit him to gauge cotto's power, and when he felt he could take it, he had no fear of cotto. that may be a mistake against clottey

Bro don't get distracted by all those allegations the Mayweathers and Pacman hatters throw to Pacquiao. Even Pacman doesn't doubt his own skills and focus ( Why would you? right? ). With a growing Pacman fans and supporters spreading across the world he wouldn't even need to think about the Mayweathers anymore.

Manny Pacquiao is the face of boxing and the current P4P King. Embrace it bro. He already exceed his limitations and surpassed expectations. Doubting him will just surprise you even more.

I think his moves on the last fight with Cotto was a brief example that he can really take a punch and fight toe2toe with a natural welterweight boxer and don't need to rely mostly on his speed and agility. Pacquiao just prove something that most people that time ( even his fans ) think that he will not last to Cotto.

Pacman ( on my observation ) was just preparing to trap Cotto. It's like baiting a big mouse on a small room filled with thousands of well-placed mouse traps waiting for the mouse.

I REALLLLLY hope Pacquiao loses...

Why? Because I'm in the Philippines....
And I'm damn tired of the fricken parades he gets after a win....
gorram traffic is ban enough without this stupid guy's parade closing down major streets....

I also think he's an idiot for running for congress, etc....

Damn good fighter though....
And I doubt he'll lose... I can dream though...

Would be kinda funny seeing this whole country sad...
(It's sad that this country has only one sports hero...)

Exactly. Clottey uses his head as a weapon far more than Holyfield ever did. ANd when Pac gets cut, he doesn't like it. He is going to have to stay on balance and be careful in this fight. If he gets cut, anything can happen. If he does not get cut, I think he wins at least 8 rounds out of 12.

Clottey's two weaknesses are staying in his shell defense too often and the struggle he goes through to make 147 pounds. At 154 he's a monster. After this fight, he should move up.

No broadcast in Hong Kong?! Are you kidding?

NOOOOO!!!!
another fricken parade in Manila... sigh....

One good thing about Pacman fights, is that there's no traffic on those days....
Problem is that it's sunday here... and there's little traffic anyways...

Parades are weekdays though.... sigh....

Pacquiao win via Unanimous Decision!   Clottey's defense was really solid as steel. Pacquiao on the 10th round was in danger because of a severe cut to his eye. Good for him he still made it until the last round.

My full respect to Mr. Clottey! He really proved his thing.

well it was a pretty lopsided fight.  Sure enough Clottey went into his shell defense and didn't do much, though the times he did counter he did hit Pacquiao with some shots.  Way too few times and nowhere close to being as busy as Manny.  A bit disappointed at the fight in that Clottey's modus operandi seemed to be to just be able to go the distance.
