It mimics the top sushi places in Japan. The whole restaurant has only ten seats around the counter. A Japanese speaking chef will make you sushis in front of you in real time. In my opinion, Sushi Hiro is the best sushi joint in Hong Kong.  It's a bit on the pricey side ~$500 but the sushi is very fresh and taste great. I think there are 2 shops -- one is causewaybay and one in tsim sha tsui. I don't recommend ordering the set menus.  Just sit at the bar and order from chef's recommendation. Also, you can of course check out www.openrice.com for some more good food recommendations. They have the website in english now. There are many HK food blogs and sites out there but I find openrice to be the most reliable in terms of many honest comments and feedback.

I have been to the TST Sushi Hiro. I agree it is one of the best HK-style sushi places. Another being Oedo in North Point. But it is not comparable to a Japanese style sushi place like Sushi Qube.

Ding Tai Fung, is another place that I frequent when I go.  Its taiwanese food but its great. For a simple bowl of wonton noodles or some congee, I like to head to IFC and go to tasty's.  A bit more expensive but its quite good.

Well in my opinion, I think Mak's is overpriced and not that great, plus small portions.  I remember a friend telling me not to buy any drinks inside Mak's because it's like 20 bucks for a coke. He told me to finish up and go opposite the road to buy drinks at 7-11 haha. I think Tsim Chai Kee opposite Mak's noodles in Central seem to have better value. Plus, I can't taste much of a difference for the wonton noodles haha. Is the essence in the soup/MSG or something? lol

Don't let the decor fool you! The food is amazing! You need to make your way past the touts that will try to bring you into their overpriced restaurants and make your way to the 3rd floor (I think?) and just pick a spot where all the other Indians are sitting. -j

I feel that the one in HK isn't as great, and I would prefer the Crystal Jade chain of restaurants instead. The menu for HK Din Tai Fung seemed to have less choices than Taiwan.
