oddly enough, when I was in Indonesia, the food there was always "luke warm", never like hot-hot. does anyone know why? almost seems unsanitary.

I noticed that too...when I was there all the cafes just had the food sitting out on platters with no heating or anything! I could only bring myself to eat at the KFC in the town I was in...I've had enough food poisoning experiences in SE Asia than I care to rembmer

Hey man, going off on the indonesian food topic.  Friend brought me to indonesian restaurant awhile back.  There was this dish that I really liked but I don't remember the name and would like to find out -- it's almost like a curry dish with beef but not like curry taste at all - it's a little more powdery/little more stewy.  Any clues? That dish was bomb.

It must have been Rendang - can be either beef or chicken rendang but beef is more popular.

It is a dish which is slow coooked for many hours so the meat comes out tender and the spices are well absorbed.
succulent like the Indo giirls....
