But if you're settled with a family, or have made quite a circle of non-punting friends, surely you don't want to be spotted near jordan road... Do you wear say a cap and dark sunglasses?

There are lots of other activities in Jordan than just punting. If you're spotted just say you're there looking for a shop recommended by a colleague to buy some cheap electronics or some other item.
