really depends on your budget and how luxurious a hotel you want ...

hotels like the Ven and Wynn are nice but will set you back at least HK$1300 on weekdays

Please check http://www.macau.com to get familar with the Macau scene. If you want a central location then recommendation would be Rio as its not too expensive whilst close to the central of town.

If you plan to punt, you could stay overnight and sleep at one of the saunas to kill two birds with one stone.

I agree with asia-play, I usually stay at the RIO as it is pretty cheap but the room is very nice and RIO spa & nightclub are good places to hit as well.

i find sleeping with 20-30 guys in the same room kind of weird. I've slept in RIO spa before and for me it is just weird.

i need my privacy when i sleep.

Why not try Sanado as they have a sleeping room with bunks that have curtains for privacy. Usually sleep by listening to music on my iPhone to drown out the snoring of other punters.

Whoa.    I did not know this.   I was just thinking about trying Macau on my next trip and whether or not to do the sleep over at the sauna thing, you know, really get the total experience . . . but it's DORMITORY style?! Definitely will take a pass on that.  What's the attraction?  Money saver I suppose?  Save the cost of the hotel room to spend on sauna services?

I didn't do it.  Really I didn't.

Actually, for the WYNN, you won't be able to get a room for less than HK$2,000 a night even on weekdays unless you know the junkets, then it's HK$1,800. It's the most expensive hotel in Macau and they won't budge on the price. The regular villas in their new Encore wing are priced at HK$50,000 a night (there are 16 of them) and they are always full, comped for the high rollers.
