ONE of the heirs to the Samsung Electronics fortune has been arrested after US police found almost 230kg of marijuana in her luggage.
Lisette Lee, 28, was arrested by Federal Drug Enforcement Officials after a private jet she was on landed at Port Columbus International Airport in Ohio.

Officials stopped Lee, who lives in Beverly Hills in California, after becoming suspicious of the amount of luggage she was travelling with - 13 bags in total.

Ohio news channel WBNS reported that the Drug Enforcement Agency in California tipped off officials in Columbus.

It claims that when the plane landed, agents were waiting as luggage, allegedly containing the marijuana, was loaded into three waiting vans.

Authorities also confiscated three mobile phones, cocaine, drug paraphernalia and suspected drug ledgers that showed some US$300,000 in transactions.
Lee told investigators that she chartered the plane from Van Nuys in California to Columbus to visit a boyfriend and transport equipment to a horse farm. She said it was her fourth such trip.

Three other people, who Lee claimed were her secretary and bodyguards, were also arrested at the airport.

But DEA agent Anthony Marotta said they have now been released pending possible indictments.

Lee has been charged with conspiracy and possession of drugs with the intent to distribute. She is being held without bail.

If convicted, she could face up to 40 years in prison and a fine of up to US $2 million.

Don't think it's leagal in any State bringing in so much Marijuana. In fact, California is not going to vote for the legalization or partial legalization of marijuana until October.

yeah with that much 100-999 kilos, she will get the 2nd worst sentence of 5-40yrs.  They will come down hard bc its intent of distributing & trafficiking.  Kind of hard to buy your way out.  Even Michael Douglas's son couldn't get out of his sentence

Lee claimed that the luggage held supplies for a horse farm in Columbus, agents said.

Lee told agents she had come to visit her boyfriend, who recently had purchased a horse farm in Ohio and asked her to transport some equipment for him. She told officials she did not know his last name.

Lee also told agents that she had met a man named David Garrett at a California casino who was an importer/exporter and had recently purchased a horse farm in Ohio. It was unclear if Garrett was the same person as the boyfriend. Lee said she agreed to transport equipment for Garrett's horse farm.

Garrett would supply cash to cover the $50,000 charter trips and $10,000 in payments for Lee's companions, she told agents.

Garrett would deliver 12 to 14 suitcases to Lee's residences in Los Angeles. Then in Columbus, Lee would drop off the luggage at an area hotel room and leave the key at the front desk. Lee and her companions would remain in Columbus for several days until Garrett summoned her back to the hotel room to bring suitcases back to Los Angeles.

Lee said that she suspected Garrett's story was false and that she might be engaging in illegal activity, but she believed that they were transporting weapons or money.

Richard Isaacson, a special agent and spokesman for the Detroit division of the Drug Enforcement Administration, said agents are still investigating Lee's claims.

Lee will face a federal judge at a detention hearing Friday, Isaacson said.
