Where to begin here

Yeah, I'm the Newbie...Only spending a few days in HK and then a few in Guangzhou, Foshan and the Baiyun district on work.  Been attempting to figure out the site, blah blah blah.       There's a lot to take in.  For the little time I'll have in mainland China I'd really like to know if anyone here can give this old dog a bone and let me know where I should take a look while in the Guangzhou/Foshan area.  Honestly I'd prefer to have someone coming to my hotel rather than trying to navigate the streets since I do not speak or understand Chinese.  If you can hhelp I'd greatly appreciate it.  I've had almost Zip luck for mainland.  HK has been easy.  Thanks much.
