Really? In the US, anyone who has listened to any kind of mildly informed public debate about anything gay-related (gays in the military, gay marriage, gay adoption, etc) has heard of Kinsey. I imagine I heard of Kinsey in junior high school or something. The "10%" figure gets brought upa lot. In my opinion, Kinsey was important for opening the conversation, but his actual research methods sucked and his results don't hold much water by today's academic standards (but yes, he did the best he could do at the time).
