Both of them are hard to predict. Forlan could make a difference in the first match while the second match could be decided by Japanese set-pieces and the Paraguayan keeper that has shown some weaknesses.

Slovakia beating the previous world champion in the last game should not be the indicator for their match against the Dutch. They have not been tested so far and they are too good of a team to fall to Slovakia
Spain will kick home Ronaldo's sorry butt. He can dive, he can whine but the Spanish should kick them home by at least two goals.
Germany vs England: England has shown some sorry matches so far, Germany only showed a strong performance against Australia. In the end it wlll go down to penalties and we all know how it will end. You may also ask Gary Lineker if you shouldn't know....


The (South) American Clashes

Argentine vs. Mexico
Brazil vs. Chile.

Brazil will have a hard time to break the Chilean defence but should be able to do so with some patience. Chile's key to the quarter final is an early surprise goal and then play a very physical match.
Argentina vs. Mexico. Looks easy for Argentine but Mexico is a kind of mixed bag. Don't know what to think of them. Anyways that should be Argentina moving on...

Last but not least it's the US vs Ghana.
Ghana should have the support of the South African spectators being the sole survivor from the continent. The US, well some of the can play football, but they have won probably one of the weakest groups (vs. England, Slovenia and Algerie all not playing well). Is that going to be enough to beat Ghana? Their win against Serbia was kind of lucky (late penalty), a draw against Oz and defeat against a so so German team. So they have not been convincing either.
Therefore Homer's prediction is a penalty shoot out with Tim Howard making the crucial save.

as mentioned before I think the USA has a clear shot at getting to the Final Four.  Ghana will be tough but without Essien and with the US much more experienced than their dismal 2006 squad, they should be able to turn the tables on Ghana.  Assuming they play Uruguay, that will be a tough match but the US should be able to take them.  

Final Four - Brazil vs. USA, Argentina vs. Spain

The Brazil and Portugal game last night... 0-0 but so many yellow cards! Technically both teams were able to go on to the next round despite the result of this game so why get so fired up with the foul plays and yellow cards? lol...

Anyway, looking forward to England vs Germany!!

If the England game goes to penalties for once I can see England winning it.

Didn't like the result of the Korea Uruguay game.

Didn't like the ref's calls.

Korea out played them and lost.

Bitter yes, but I will get over it.

well, it was fun while it lasted.  I drank enough of the kool-aid to stupidly think that the US would go very far, but the reality is is that the defense was a very shakey unit throughout the last 2 years, and Tim Howard, as good a goalkeeper as he is in the EPL, is no Brad Friedel or Kasey Keller, just an ordinary middle-of-the-pack goalkeeper who couldn't make a big save when needed.  He probably had no chance on the 2nd goal, but the first one he was out of position and it should have been stopped by most top-level goalkeepers.
