My understanding is that herpres is never cured. What happens in most cases is that the body either throws off the virus on it's own, or the virus goes into permanent remission. I don't think anyone suffers from herpes for years and years.

Furthermore - and I don't want to minimize the risk of catching herpes - those horror pics you see on the internet usually involve people with immune system deficiencies; people with healthy immune systems don't get their mouths eaten away by herpes.

What I do not understand is to what extent a prior infection with herpes can influence the body's response to renewed exposure, or to exposure to genital herpes. However, genital herpes, when it occurs on the mouth, isn't any more severe than the oral variety.

like everything else in the medical world they have to place the conditions for disease contraction irregardless of the % of probability that it would happen. I'm sure the likelihood of getting HSV-1 genital herpes from an invisible mouth cold-sore is less than 1% but they still have to put it on...just in case.

A member of my family had a preventative appendectomy (where the appendix isn't swollen) recently and the doc made our fam sign a waiver form in case he died. Apparently you can die from a preventative appendectomy procedure.

All I know is that I just freak the fuck out anytime I see anything CLOSE to a cold-sore on a WG's mouth.

This is EXACTLY the kind of misinformation being spread that makes a clear case that members should not give information about STDs.

For any query, you are far better off searching the Internet or better, ask your doctor, instead of asking these questions in forums where people like to share useless and factually incorrect anecdotes.

Yeah, I was pretty surprised too.  Mars is usually pretty up to date with this kind of stuff, but there are two types of herpes.  The regular sores on the lips that most people have and the serious shit you need medical suppressants for.

That is untrue, since it cannot be cured, people would carry the virus for the rest of their life.  Frequency and severity of outbreaks can be managed through modern medication, but sufferers would still be advised to keep medication at the ready in case of an outbreak.

I get vaccinations from a doctor who specializes in infectious diseases, and she's mentioned the dangers of bbbj on a near religious basis.  I also doubt that her patients that suffer badly from herpes simplex 1/2 are only those with poor immune systems - although with all diseases, that is a contributing factor.  

You can theoretically get either simplex on your mouth or genitals (any membrance actually), and you may not know which one it is.  The one you may be referring to is Simplex 1, and yes, a lot of people get it from kissing (passionate or family when we were kids) and that one usually resolves itself and becomes somewhat recessive.

Simplex 2 can spread from genitals to your mouth, and that will have you buying medication.

Again, I'm not a doctor, so don't take my word for it, better to check CDC as I mentioned.

The herpes on the pussy, dick and mouth are the same genital herpes.  From what I know there are two herpes, 1 and 2.  Herpes 1 many people have including myself, herpes 2 however is the herpes you have to tell your wife you caught somewhere because you don't want to spread that shit to her, LOL.  Herpes 2 is the one you have have to keep taking meds for because you don't want to infect anyone else you touch.  I think it can grow in the throat as well as genitals.  When taking meds, you can avoid outbreaks, but even if a person doesn't have an outbreak, there is a chance of spreading it still according to a television ad I saw.

Man some of  you guys are unrelenting. It's obviously too hard to stop this going in circles on a topic that has been picked over in a multitude of threads and always ends up the same way .... pseudo doctors quoting good and suspect web sites and preaching to the unconvertible.

Twice asked for opinions and I recommend we at least have a moratorium on this for say 6 months and see if anyone can care less after that.

The spectrum of opinion is so broad, from one extreme that thinks BBBJ and DATY is as equally dangerous as unprotected vaginal sex, through to the opposite that say the risk is less than something like crossing the road with a green light. Is it usual to continue having outbreaks for many years? I was led to believe that the periods between the outbreaks grows longer and longer until they finally disappear.
