It's kind of funny, but Mulder's correct...also a lot of Asian guys won't hit a shaved girl, saying it's bad luck or bad karma. Attitudes in the US are driven by porn, and everyone shaves now pretty much, even guys do. Walk into a FKK club in Germany, where everyone's pretty much naked, and even most of the guys, except for the much older married ones, shave.
However...I do note that the HK97 folks used to have a magazine called "White Tiger", and sites like Shave Asian are available in Chinese and English. Even on Asianude4u, there's a lot less pubic hair on the girls these days, than, say a couple of years ago. I also note that one sees more and more "paipan" JAV actresses these days, similar to the US porn in the 80s, where girls' bikini lines started shrinking. The final thing is that guess whose women were the first to shave their pussies? The Chinese, and I can't remember if it was 3000 years ago, or 3000 BC. So..there's obviously a market for it.
I prefer it myself...it makes more sense to me logically, but if I was visiting Macau, HK or the mainland, you'd have to go with the flow. I'd also guess, and this is pure speculation, you might find the well kept bikini on display a little more often in Macau, as the lineup is international catering to an increasingly international clientele.
As for naturally bare...I knew a few girls from the Golden Triangle in the 90s who had no triangle at all!
