Actress and sometime-underwear model Eva Mendes has headed off internet rumours of a soon-to-be-leaked sex tape with a release of her own.
The Hitch and We Own the Night star has filmed a mock infomercial for Eva Mendes Sex Tape - a duct tape that "Secures things EXtremely Well".
The video, which appears on comedian and upcoming co-star Will Ferrell's website FunnyorDie.com, features Mendes as herself responding to internet demands she release a tape.
"At first I couldn't put it together," the actress says.
"I was making my way as an actor and suddenly the internet was demanding that I release this household product.
"In fact, 'Eva Mendes sex tape' was a top Google search before the product even existed.
"Now, English isn't my first language but it doesn't take a genius to know what tape is.
"And people want their tape to Secure things EXtremely well.
"They want S.EX. tape!"
The internet has been buzzing since the beginning of the week with rumours a racy, unauthorised recording of the Revlon and Calvin Klein model would hit cyberspace.
Celebrity gossip blogger Perez Hilton wrote on Monday the "hawt" tape would be released the following day.
But Mendes cashed in first.
She kicks off the video in night vision, invoking the infamous Paris Hilton tapes, and uses a series of corny puns to list the tape's potential applications.
