I know a couple of guys that blew through around 10K at Havana.  The girls they were preparing to take home did a complete disappearing act on them when the bill came.  They went home empty handed with very light wallets.  Yes, there are some cute girls there, but I thought they were all of the non-output type.  

Like the guys rating girls in HK walkups, hotels, saunas, etc., it would be interesting to rate the girls at the girly bars in Shekou. I see a few bargirl names here and there, but overall, not many names and definitely not many ratings.  What girls to avoid at what bars? and which ones are the best bang per buck?  On a scale of 0 to 10.

I guess the “rating Shekou girly bars and bar girls” idea was a bad one. Stopped this thread dead in its tracks.   Would still like to see other opinions.  
On a lighter note, the Seaworld police must have lost their watches, or forgot how to tell time. The bars have been open well past 2am lately.  Just a flash in the pan. Though the massage girls in the square are history, most likely never to return.  They want Seaworld to be family friendly.

I don't frequent the bars much these days but to be honest I despise Havana, the girls just help themselves to large drinks and walk away, total teases.

Bottoms up is not to bad but they have one super annoying girl who works there now, Kylie if that is her name still. So loud.

Legends is my go to bar, as long as your not a pushover on drinks.

I would choose Singles Bar or Why Not Bar as two places where you can find flirtatiousness, and if you are firm on the number if drinks & girls, and not get too pissed, not get ripped off.

If you are new to a bar, make it clear you are local and will be regular if they don't take the piss. It can reduce the fiction of the bar tab.

Sinlges is probably where I´ve felt the most welcome and least pushing. Good place with decent girls who knows how to behave. In most cases.

Situation still bleak in Shekou. The clubs like Terrace and Enigma are booming. But all the bars are all but dead. For those looking for a 25 rmb BJ, Number One Bar is open again.

Fubar is closing very soon. No rumor this time, they are already liquidating inventory.

I went to Fubar 2/3 weeks ago with my SO, we were taking a couple of friends around a few bars for craft beers.

We ordered 4 dishes off the menu and a craft beer each. 10 minutes later the girl tells us all they have left was pizza, no food at all.

The beers looked old, like an old social club back in the UK, dirty glasses etc if you know what I mean?

So Jason, what’s the step below bleak?  Looks like things are headed in that direction. I’m thinking the girls will soon be leaving in droves.  Like Dongguan a few years back.

BTW, I sent you a PM a while ago, don’t know if you saw it.  Kind of interested in your expert opinion. I had to go home last month so I’m not in Shenzhen right now. I would be most appreciative if we could have a short diaglog through PM.   Many thanks.

To be fair Shekou bar scene died about six years ago when the two chicken streets closed down and all the farm fresh left town.

Seems designed to be target the small bars but will be a significant cost increase to even the bigger places.

Yikes !!!  I see exactly what they are trying to do.

Two important translated sentences say:
During the business hours, all personnel are only allowed to enter. (Literal)
Customers that consume alcohol are to be watched closely by security personnel. (Paraphrased)

The first one means that no girls can leave the bar or even go outside the bar until after business hours are over.  I’m sure some of the girls will love that. Any bar with outside tables will have to jettison those for sure, if they haven’t already. Once they come into the bar, they can’t step outside until the bar closes. I guess the security guards at the door are there to enforce that new rule.  

Three ways to close down a bar quickly are: 1) make it too expensive with way too much overhead; 2) make it a shitty place to work with too many onerous and stupid rules; 3) make it uncomfortable for the customers with higher prices and 2 security guards observing your every move.

As Obe said, Shekou realistically died about 6 years ago, but in reality it was just on life support. When the new rules kick in, the plug will be pulled. The security guards are there to make sure no one has fun.

They started this more than a year ago. Slowly tightening the noose. There has been too many incidents lately. Police called many times. And the bars have all been cheating the last rule change that was actually fairly reasonable. So I think they just had enough. These girls did this to themselves. If they kept their business discreet, and not scam customers, there would have been no problem. I see these places in other places, and they are often hard to find because so discreet. These places will chase you across the street. Stupid.

Unfortunately this new "rule" seems to concern ALL bars, including the "clean and nice ones", like the Terrace and McCawleys. Apparently it has slowly started to be put in place in Futian, but I have not seen it with my own eyes.

I've seen it at big places. I think they use it for their own protection. Its a relatively small cost for a big night club, and maybe a cost savings because it reduces their insurance cost. I'm sure Terrace can absorb this easily. I'm not sure how they will enforce on places like McCawleys with an outdoor terrace area. They would have to ban alcohol outside. The small girl bars just can't do it. Even if they spent the money, the security with scare away all customers.

But in the end, this is China. And we know the police will selectively enforce this. If the bar isn't causing any trouble, then nobody will bother them. Its no coincidence that this new rule prompted an immediate meeting with all the problem bars.

The net effect, is there will be no more happy times in Shekou after next week. Maybe they can half a BOGO on hand jobs until they are finished.

Rumor is all haichang bars close Monday. Done.

Someone just opened Annie's Bar opposite Tomato, and another lot are taking over what used to be Sunrise around the corner from Enigma.

Does anyone know if Annie's bar has any connection with the original? My old boss used to favour that one. Not I suspect for the ambience. More for the time from "Hello buy, me drink" to balls deep behind the curtain that was so consistant there. Unlikely to be that way now I suspect.

I walked down Haichang St on Friday night and 70% of them were closed.

In fact, the only bars open were Zombie bar and Rock hard bar, all others closed.

100% closed on Monday. Game over man

Here's the tally: On Haiqiangjie and dirty street. All closed except: Shekou Club, Number One, Chopper, Myami. This is final. Others are down for the count. A few moved to Seaworld, but not sure which ones.

Now I'm probably going to get into trouble. We joke about those places, but a lot of us found great comfort talking to those girls. Now they are seriously in trouble. The government seized their businesses with no good cause. Now no income and they lost everything. Its really a tragedy. So if you can see it in your heart to send a red packet to your favorites, I think it would brighten their day a lot. I  sent a nice bonus to my favorite girl.

I should add: At least one of those bars did in fact pay for security equipment as demanded, and they just closed it anyway. This wasn't about security.

Bummer.   The plug was pulled.  Ten bucks says the “security personnel “ had to be LE recommended and they were just internal snitches constantly monitoring every night’s activity.  The security equipment couldn’t be that much money, they have them at the front doors of many stores, but the security personnel wages + revenue lost due to customers not wanting to have fun while under surveillance would make any bar owner think twice.  

So, if some are moving to Seaworld, does that mean Seaworld bars are under different rules?   Are there no security personnel and no rule #3 adherence requirements?  What’s the tally at Seaworld?  I read that Sunrise was history. Too bad Havana doesn’t follow them.  Havana gives girls bars a bad name.  That bar is a scam and the girls there all know it.
