New York, Las Vegas or Los Angeles may seem like more likely choices but Austin, Texas has been named the sexiest city in the United States in a magazine survey.
Dallas, Houston and San Antonio also scored high marks in the ranking by Men's Health Magazine that looked at birth rates, condom sales, rate of sexually transmitted diseases and sales of sex toys.
But cold-weather cities, including Portland, Maine which came in last and Burlington in Vermont, didn't do as well.
"One possibility is that in an area where's it's hotter, people need to dress lighter and that puts pressure on them to look better and keep in better shape," said Matt Marion, the deputy editor of the magazine.
Seven of the 15 sexiest cities in the poll of 100 urban areas were in Texas. In contrast, New England, with its freezing temperatures and parka-wearing populace, was home to many of the least libidinous cities.
The finding that amorous people tended to be more abundant in warmer cities such as Charlotte, North Carolina and Atlanta, contradicts the notion that sultry weather makes people lazy and want to avoid physical contact with others.
Some cities renowned for their singles bars and hook-up scenes were also low in the ranking. Las Vegas was No. 70, followed by New York at 73, San Francisco at 74 and Miami at 88, contradicting their reputations as randy metropolises.
"They could be having plenty of sex in Boston, San Francisco and New York, but just less than in other places," Marion said.
Yonkers, in New York, Charleston in West Virginia and Manchester, New Hampshire were also at the bottom of the list.

During my time in the larger cities in Texas, there are certainly a lot of seriously fat fat people.  There is no mass transit, they sit all day & drive to everywhere.  There is def. some bias to that article

I think you may be overlooking the large Latina community in Places like Texas. They have the highest birthrates in the U.S.

Houston and Dallas are historically tolerant of the girl biz. Austin also, it's the most liberal city in Texas, likely due to the university being there.

I will say this...the women are a lot better looking in the warmer climate cities...no accident there why.

Can't compare Austin to the rest of Texas. It doesn't even come close to resembling Dallas or Houston. It's extremely liberal and there is a huge emphasis on music and art. I would say it has one of the best music scene in the world. Austin would be the next city I would chose to live other than Los Angeles.

this article has a misleading title. i think its referring to the city that has ppl having the most sex? (from article, says based on condom sales, etc, etc). after reading this, i dont think they meant sexiest looking ppl

Yes, I agree the title of the article is very misleading. It should have been something like "The most amorous city of America" instead!

Pretty much any poll like this is going to be biased based on how the questions are asked.

A topic like this just has so many variables and realistically is basically impossible to determine.

Of course, maybe this is simply busting the belief that all those 'party-town' are any good. Maybe all the men in Las Vegas et al just spend all their time and money chasing tail and get nowhere!

Definitely agree on the music vibe in that city. That's why they have the South by Southwest festival in Austin every year. One of the best rock cities in the US. As for girls, San Antonio girls (especially strippers) are renowned by being very liberal and open.

Last time i was in San Antonio - it was a few years back. The girls were defintaley open minded.

Doesnt suprise me about texas though, its a fairley large state!
