Gossip Girl actress Taylor Momsen has flashed her breasts during a concert in New York City.
Performing with her band Pretty Reckless, the 17-year-old pulled down her top mid-performance to expose her bare breasts. However the young star had covered her nipples with gaffer tape, somewhat preserving her modesty.
In a move reminiscent of Janet Jackson's infamous Superbowl 'wardrobe malfunction', this is the latest in a series of risqué stunts pulled by the seemingly angst-ridden young actress-turned-singer.
Momsen has been causing a stir since she embarked on her music career, largely because of her provocative outfits that has been deemed shocking for someone so young. Her signature look consists of heavily blackened eyes, long blonde hair and a low-cut corset paired with thigh-high stockings. Plus stripper heels and what is de rigueur for pop stars - no pants.
She famously exposed her underwear during a concert performance and recently caused a stir when she appeared on the cover of rock music magazine Revolver wearing lingerie and holding a gun in each hand.
Further enhancing her bad-girl image, the actress frequently talks up her angsty attitude in media interviews. In an interview with Bullet magazine, Momsen said: “I see myself as totally insane. I’m totally moody. Of course. And I’m totally out of my mind. And I’m always myself."
However she went on to explain that her on-stage persona is not a true reflection of her private self.
“It’s another extension of myself. I mean I don’t walk out of my bedroom in the morning with stripper heels on,” she said.
"I dress for myself," she told Spin magazine. "Clearly, it's provocative, but it makes me feel good. And if the only reason it makes someone uncomfortable is because I'm 17, then that person's a scumbag because it shouldn't matter."
Momsen's comments echo those of another 17-year-old actress/singer who is also under fire for her racy makeover - Miley Cyrus. Earlier this month Cyrus was criticised for her music video 'Who Owns My Heart' for wearing skimpy outfits and dancing provocatively. The young star said she liked wearing skimpy clothing and wasn't trying to look 'slutty'.
However Momsen has one thing that Cyrus doesn't - the endorsement of Madonna. The veteran pop-star recently named Momsen as the face of Material Girl, the clothing line Madonna has launched in collaboration with her teenage daughter Lourdes.
Momsen came to fame playing young Jenny Humphrey on Gossip Girl, a fictional television show about rich teenagers in New York. The show depicts the cashed-up teens living an adult life, including sex, drugs and underage drinking. Momsen admitted to Spin that she has had similar experiences.
"I've had a lot of bad experiences, and whether that's from sex or drugs or something else, they are adult experiences that would f--- anyone up," she said.
Momsen has also previously revealed that she has a knife collection and that her personal favourite is the switchblade.
