We use Skype a lot for business because, as far as we know, it's almost impossible to eavesdrop on Skype communications.  I don't think the same can be said for other VoIP services.   Perhaps that's why China are banning them, because it's much easier to ban it than to crack it

Security could be  a reason why China is banning Skype. Like how India and UAE wanted to ban Blackberry a few months ago cos they didn't allow security agencies to eavesdrop on the Blackberry communication channels.

On that note, does anyone know if there's a SKYPE application for the Blackberry? Recent Ratings stage6   3-1-2011 17:03   Acceptance   +1   no date for enforcement of ban yet

And skype.tom.com seemed to have security issues, so I gues it is not too difficult to hack the accounts... Using skype as a phone it is really much cheaper than phone calls (http://skype.tom.com/products/en/)...
