NBA 2010/2011 its upon us!

Haven't seen a post about this yet so thought i would start one.

What you guys predictions for the coming year?

Championship?

MVP?

Rookie of the Year?

I am a Lebron hater, so I would like them to fail. But given their talents, it all comes down to how healthy they will be. Seems like LeBron actually wants to do well considering all the hate his gotten. Wade is at the top of his game. So a fit and health Miami will be hard to stop.

My actual favourite is Orlando coz of Dwight, but i dont think he has the supporting cast to make it. Vince is a has been and Rashaad is super overpaid.

Lakers vs Miami Final for me.

MVP .. Durantula!! KD is the man.

Rookie of the Year.. Blake Griffen to show what we missed last year.

I'm right there with you pornaddy!! I think its hard to make a prediction till we watch a few games of the Heat playing, if they play decent half court defense i think the championship has gotta be theirs. Wade, Bosh and LeBron are all in or entering the prime of their careers, with all 3 of them on the court for 40 mins each there isn't a more talented team to match them.

I do think that the Heat will struggle against Orlando without a big man to tackle Dwight, but it all depends on the seedings cuz i can still see Boston knocking out Orlando, with the two O'Neal's and Perkins back from injury at the end of the season.

MVP - Durant!! My fave player - modest, hardworking, passionate and extremely talented!

Rookie of the Year - Blake squashes the little man in washington

Championship - Lakers if they can get kobe healthy - he shot 28 percent in preseason!!

thanks for starting this thread!

given that i havent watched any other preseason games besides lakers', my early prediction, just based on roster and barring any major injuries, i would have to say that the finals will be lakers vs boston, again. i would like to see lakers vs heat, but i just feel that boston has a much much deeper team (adding shaq and jermaine o'neal to their bench).

can't believe the season is upon us again. seems really quick, but thats prbly lakers made it all the way to the finals (yes, i am a die-hard laker fan)

i would have to agree w/the previous posters, durant = mvp. the kid has skills and brings it every time he plays.

ROY: i didnt know blake was still eligible to be considered a rookie. that guy is a monster, but some of the stuff he does could get him injured badly, again. john wall looks good too. tough choice. hmm, how about jeremy lin? if he plays like he did in training camp every nite, he should be considered, shouldnt he?

Yeah blake never played a game last year so his still eligble.. same as oden the first year he played.

Really couldn't see Boston getting up. Dont know .. i just think they are really old. KG is not the same anymore. Also not like pierce makes me not want to root for them.

I hate Boston and KG too, was so glad to see them lose in the game 7 last season!! But can't deny that when it comes to the postseason their whole squad seems to roll back the years and perform really well.

Fearless Predictions:

NBA Champs:  Orlando Magic over LA Lakers in 6.
At least one of the Big 3 in Miami is gonna get hurt, and Boston is aging quickly...

MVP:  Kevin Durant (too much hype here already...)

Rookie of the Year:  Demarcus Cousins.
He might be a darkhorse contender, but I think he's going to put up better numbers than Blake Griffin.

Most Improved Player:  JaVale McGee
John Wall is gonna feed him in down low and dude is going to beast it up.

Championship? //Hmmm.. probably between Miami or Lakers (but i hope lakers will win, not because i hate lebron and his "overpowered" team but has been and will always be a lakers fan!)
MVP - KEVIN durant! (BRING THE THUNDER BABY!)
Rookie of the Year - Blake!! (personally not only because hes good but also puts up a good show)

Speaking of Lebron (or Le-Brat as some people i know call him) very disappointing game vs Celtics.... What happened to the heat? He was performing but the chemistry wasnt there

The chemistry was all over the place for the Heat, but I think in a couple of weeks they should mesh together well... I think without Bosh they are already a formidable team, it will be interesting to see...

Well time will tell how the team will work out.

crazy first game. really showed the weakness of Miami. Couldn't go into the paint and had to settle for jumpshots. And if they can't nail those they are in trouble. Interested to see houston nearly upsetting the lakers as well. Going to be a great season!

if you look back to the past couple of seasons, houston has always played well against the lakers. the games have usually gone down to the wire. they match up well against lakes

Looks like Miami is hitting its strides a little after the initial hiccup in boston. Damn they look good when they are onsong. The first game they all didn't play like themselves and got into trouble.

Griffin vs Wall race for ROY is gonna be interesting. After watching wall for the first game thought he badly need to improve his jumpshot, but he has shown he is capable. His speed is amazing. And didn't know Blake Griffin is so athletic, that is a white boy who can jump.

Predictions...

(1) The biggest cheer at a Knicks home game at MSG will be when CC Sabathia gets shown on the Scoreboard TV.

(2) The Slam Dunk competition at the All Star game will be even more lame than the 2009 edition because the NBA's best dunkers dont enter coz they are afraid losing will make them look bad.

(3) Nike will spend so much money on advertising trying to sell more shoes, we will overlook that fact that a guy who is 6'6" (9'6" when he stands on "tippy toes" with his hands in the air) who jumps 6" off the ground to put a ball into a stationery hoop from POINT BLANK RANGE... is not really that clever.

(4) The league will lose US$400 MILLION as predicted by commissioner Stern, up from the US$250 MILLION they lost the previous year.

(5) The sound of sneakers "squeak, squeak, squeaking" on hardwood floors will continue to be the most irritating noise in sports.

Sorry... just kidding.

Actually, I hope everyone gets the Finals they really want, LA vs Miami. Everyone in Cleveland will be a Lakers fan for a week and if Kobe wins, Lebron can have another "Decision" on ESPN, this time revealing who other than him was to blame for the loss.

i have a feeling griffin will get injured again this season. i dont want him to, really enjoy watching him play, but he gets so high in the air and lands kinda awkwardly most of the time. he's had some ridiculous dunks already. if he's still healthy, hope we see him in the dunk contest

i know what you mean. Griffin has some awesome jumping ability, would really be a shame to see him hurt again. His too awesome to sit on the side lines.

New Orleans surprise packet of the season so far... wouldn't mind seeing san antoino go far again. But that team is old. Need all to stay healthy to have a chance.

I'm all about the Lakers 3-peat.  I thought the Heat would be a solid contender but after last night's collapse against the Jazz, they still have a long ways to go.  I dont mind the Celtics chances coming out of the East, as long as they stay healthy.  I read that some experts are predicting the Lakers to best the 72 win Bulls.  That is something I would like to see.

Think that key to the Heat will be Wade.  If he stays healthy they can go all the way. He has history of injuries and plays extremely hard.  Amazing how his quality is still at its pinacle.  Look for Wade to be the man, nit lebron or bosch.  Funny thing too is that most people like Wade.  James and Bosch don't really have likable personalties.  So even though people may root against James and Bosch they want wade to do well and are amazed by him.  Hope he stas healthy.

well, i dont think too many ppl care or know of bosh. he played in a small market (toronto) that wasnt all that good, and didnt get alot of national airtime. wade is a likeable guy. its funny, when you add lebron james to that team, it instantly becomes a highly polarizing team. james is a very polarizing figure. so much hype, and alot of talent, but no rings. gives alot of ammo for argument on both sides. i'm not a fan of james. he always chokes. i hate it when espn compares him to kobe. he's not on kobes level yet, and may never be if he keeps on playing like this.
