I am in Wan Chai for a week, right in the middle of Lockhart St. (a couple of reports cuming, at them moment just a collection of notes and recollections yet to be written up)

I have found an easy way not to be hassled by the hostess bar madams and the girls, which can be very annoying.

With the Madams I tell them loudly "You can't afford me because I Charge $5 per minute to drink with" before adding "that's US dollars"

While this may seem silly and petty, they remember me on any subsequent pass. The phrase creeps them as others on the street may miss hear it, as in they charge $5USD a minute (probably close).

When the girls outside the hostesss bars try to Grab me I tell them sternly "Don't touch merchandise", it makes them scatter alot faster than no or no thank you, and once again I never bothered by the same girl twice. I figure the arogance rubs them the wrong way.

They probably mutter a collection of insults in canto or mando, but like I care.

With the southern containent fortune tellers  I just looked confused and talk some made up langauge, works a treat, the effort is worth the confused looks I get back.

Could just tell them you are gay?

I just keep walking and if a madam starts to grab my arm, I tell her to fuck off under my breath (they are extremely annoying - fight fire with fire). As for the girls, I just say ''no cash, no drinks - just want to touch and watch''. They pretty much leave me alone after that.

Is it that big of an issue where you actually need to 'deal with them' ? Usually if I find myself walking past that area or that sort of situation, i'd just keep walking .. maybe utter ' no thank you '

I agree it's "no big deal" really... until you walk past 4 - 5 in a row and get the same crap it becomes irritating... not as bad as the copy watch and cheap suit touts hanging around the Harbour end of Nathan Rd though... now those guys I'd like to exterminate!

Yeah, it is nothing more than annoying - but I agree it can be annoying.  

I actually made the mistake of screwing a mamasan once.  She was young enough (32) and had a great body.  She tried to pull me in and I said I never go to these curtain bars (not since long ago with that one and only time I made such an expensive mistake!).  We started to chat about "why" I felt that way and I ended up saying - "look, I would make love to you in a second, I would even pay for the privalege", but I aint going inside your bar!".  It threw her a bit... she said she NEVER went with customers EVER!!!.  I slipped her my mobile number - and the next day before her work started I was banging the hell of her.  She seemed so complimented by my statement (and follow-up actions) that we did indeed have damn good sex.

BUT:  from then on I pretty much had to cross the street with head held low to pass her bar, becuase she just kept at me with great intensity from then on...  Finally we reached a truce, she would stop accosting me on street, and every now and then I would ring her up for a session before her work started.

Sometimes I set myself up for weird experiences.  Hehe.

When I was 18 I came to Hong Kong on placement - my boss took me to the 'Bunny Lounge' or something like that. I ended up sitting with this stripper who was stunning! She kept touching me up, I was in heaven. My boss informed me she would want paying if I went back with her - she offered - I said no I am not paying for it. She asked for my hotel number etc I gave her it & though nothing of it.

I use to stay at " studiostudio" on lockhart for a month and had a good share of colombian working girls who use to stay there when they were allowed easy visas.  Those days were great.

That shit happened to me too, I was with 3 kids and the SO, we happened to get off the wrong bus stop and decided to take a stroll back since we needed to use a bathroom, we used a restaurant restroom then started to walk "the strip"  I had no idea it was there honestly.  The closer we got, the darker the skies were getting, next thing you know there are light bulbs everywhere, and brown skinned beauties dressed in lingerie standing outside these places as my eldest son stared as much as I did, wife bitched and said, "WTF are u looking at?" LOL...  went across the street and found the MTR a block later.  It was funny as hell, and the girls kept smiling at me, at one point, one of them got so close she almost pulled me in but my wife got me first! LOL  too funny!

But I told her I heard about friends getting totally ripped off in the ones in HK!
