iphone 4, where to get one in HK

Hello Bros,

After a short time beeing in China i found out that my stupid mobilephone Iphone4 has a netlock and this cant be removed at the moment. No actuell jailbreaks work on the netlock.

I was thinking to buy me stupid mobilephone in china, but all those iphones here, are 1000rmb more expensive and they are only sold with a contract.

So my silly question is simple. I want a nice original Iphone 4 without any contracts and with a normal price.
Where could I find one in HK without any problems and that this is also storaged.

Thanks in advance for help.

Bye silver

Your best bet would be Sin Tat plaza in Mong Kok.

The mall has 3-4 floors and sells nothing but cell phones.

83 Argyle Street
Mong Kok

If you want original price for Iphone 4, definitely not Sin Tat... Their sell price today will not be less than $6500 for a 16gb since that is what they are buying it for right now.

You will have to try your luck at Fortress or an authorised Apple dealer. Every now and then they have new stock. If you see a line outside, then queue up... and hope they still have some stock left by the time your turn comes... lol

i suggest not buying now as Iphone5 is just around the corner, Iphone4 prices will plummet as soon as it hits the street. Ipad2 is end of this month on sale and im sure Iphone5 won't be far behind.

Or you can try 188 Shopping Arcade in Wanchai. There is a shop on second floor that don't mark up phones too much. I shop my iPhone 2 back some years with them. Else, if you are VIP ofmobile operators, such as CSL and SMT Vodafone you probably can buy a replacement unit without additional contract.

I'm actually from Canada, and coming to HK in 2 weeks.  If I buy it straight from Apple, it's unlocked.  I can purchase one for anyone who needs one.  Maybe just treat me for a punt?

I am returning back to HK and China in about a month or two. I have about 5 friends there wanting me to buy them a Iphone 4 from the USA.  Last year, they wanted me to get them a Iphone 3GS.  They told me it's the way people are in HK and somewhat in China, wanting the latest items and fade.  They told me they will be saving about 200 to 300 USD. I told them I will look into it and I looked into it but it's a lot of trouble for new ones.  I'm looking at craigslist now for used ones. Don't like ebay because I like to hold and inspect the merchandise.

I just called the Apple Store in HK. There was a menu option for English. I spoke to a girl in English and told her I was calling long distance. The number was 800-908-988 for the Apple Store.  She told me they are NOT taking any order for the Iphone 4 now.  Have to go to a third party option like in Sin Tat, in Mong Kok.

I know, Apple store in HK has not opened since October 2010 except for 1 or 2 days for about an hour or so.

What I meant was that in HK, there are some authorised Apple dealers like New Vision that will sell at original price ($4988) if they have stock.
Or as travelerxx just mentioned, Broadway/Fortress... but these days, there are lines and not always have stock

As I said, Sin Tat minimum today is $6500

BAD ESN and CDMA

Bad ESNs can mean that the phone has a delinquent account balance or that the phone is stolen. I am assuming a BAD ESN is not problem activating in HK and China.  They just jailbreak the phone.

Also I'm looking at some Verizon Iphone 4 with CDMA. Does anyone know if CDMA will work in China or HK like with China Mobile.

Sorry mate, i think it was too late at 2am i wrote that. i misunderstood and missed the previous post . Anyways i see this Finally in January 2009, Ministry of industry and Information Technology of China awarded licenses of all three standards: TD-SCDMA to China Mobile, W-CDMA to China Unicom and CDMA2000 to China Telecom. I googled some (i know China have their own WD-CDMA system they made before but i googled and could not come up anything with compatibility with Verizon .

I just came from a Verizon store in the USA. A sales person said their phones CDMA, will NOT work outside the USA, Canada and he thinks also Korea.

Same from a Metro PCS store, saying the same about their phones. Metro uses CDMA also.
