china students studying in uk

i know this is a bit off topic but i was just curious. so i was wondering how all these rich chinese students from china come into the uk to study? i mean like do they really have the intention to study or is there something else? are they supposed to go back to china when they finish studying?

They're rich for a reason. And they study in UK possibly to get an idea how their family business is run or simply thinking UK offers better education and opportunities than back home. What they'll do after graduation is beyond our concerns. Maybe you can ask these studes or UK government?

What do you mean by something else ?

For the USA, foreign students from all over the world are in the USA with student visas.  Some want to stay and try to get a job in the USA after graduation. Most want to return back home because of family.  Most are extremely rich from all over the world at private Universities.  Some even bring servants from their own country.

I have also met some not so rich students working part time. I was told most cases they are NOT allowed to work. Some get around it by getting a temp work permit or working at their university.

yeah it depends......but the majority of people that study in foreign countries are looking for better education so they could get better jobs......or if their family is rich then just get some degree before taking over family business.........

There's been a ton of overseas students studying in the UK for years.  What has changed it that many Chinese families have suddenly become very rich since economic reforms (whatever happened to Communism) and with China's large population it has led to a sudden growth of mainland Chinese students in many countries around the world.

Hopefully they'll all have good experiences in their host countries, because one or two of them could end up being future world leaders   So be nice to them, or you could inadvertently start a future war or something

But seriously, after they finish study, most of them will go back home, join the family business, and help their parents to translate contracts, instruction leaflets and manuals into English

It's all about status and rankings. Chinese students are there because the top schoolsare in the US and Europe, based on rankings. They will either try to gain work when they grad and return home, or go home and inherit family business.

Grads from well known schools get the better jobs, so they really are just there to study and don't have any other motive for being there.

I myself are a BBC. Back in those days when i were still studying, i have seen two types of mainland. One is there studying PHD. Afterwards, they can actually stay in the UK as they had stayed there for so many years. Second are those that is being pushed by family to go and study there, but actually not studying.

Recently, having been back to the uk for a trip to see my sibblings, i see there are a lot more mainlanders there. There well off ones are officially there on an investment immagration. As well as seeing more mainland girls there at casinos trying to pull the locals, (1st gen hk locals as well as the 2nd gen BBCs) in saying that, more are now showing up running business such as the local restaurants and takeaways and quickly competing with the existing 1st gen.

Bottom line is that there are now a huge number of mainlanders in the uk than it had been a number of years ago. And its a way for the uk gov to gain more from investment immagration.

These days, when you walk down London Chinatown, all you tend to hear is Mandarin. To me who is born here, it kinda feels like it's not "our" (that is Hong Kong/BBC) Chinatown anymore.

well you haven't responded promptly and wow you have an acceptance of negative 55 way to go. ya know i don't recall chinese students starting problems in the uk. but i have heard foreign students starting problems in asia. are these chinese students breaking the law? did they gang rape some uk females? did they go binge drinking and start fights at pubs and bars? did they start a riot in a british town?

where is the negative aspect of chinese students studying in the uk? i mean they spend millions of pounds on a yearly basis. isn't that a good thing for the uk economy just imagine if they pulled out? i mean rich kids goof off but i'm pretty sure the chinese students if you look at crime statistics are oh so low compare to the british students.

i don't get the OP questions. no matter where in the world, there is always rich people in every country. no matter how poor, there is always some wealthy people who can afford the best education money can buy.  Its not shocking or a concern.  Now there are a few few who can get in via merits.  I once was assigned to share an apartment during my college years....he was a 19 yr old russian kid who was going for his PHD in pure mathematics...I assure you he wasn't wealthy.

There are the scholarship students who are like geniuses. They are funded by the school, government, and some even borrow money from their relatives.

Then there are the rich students, which make up the majority. Sometimes, the reason is that a "foreign" school is considered as prestigious, as well as a sign of wealth. And sometimes, the rich students don't have the grades to get into the good Universities in China, which are a lot more competitive than overseas.

And the final bunch, come here to study and hope to get a job here right after graduation (or marry a citizen), so that they can stay here and then try to sponsor their family over too.

caveman not all the chat here has to be about 141 because there are previous threads about football or ipads. kaka, dont like my question dont waste your time.

don't waste our time with an idiotic question then. ya know i looked at this site again and ya know what 99 percent of the working girls on this site are of chinese decent. holy shit i'm shocked. i think if chinese kids go to the UK to study i'm pretty sure they are students and again i think the reason they go there is to study duh. does a an air traffic controller go to fashion school to learn how to direct planes to the airport. these chinese students study and that's that.

oh my god the other day i was at a bar and i saw chinese students in america. oh my god what is this world coming to??? chinese studnets everywhere??? heaven forbid they are one sixth of the planet's population. and i actually spilled water on one of them and they began to multiply. oh my god where are the ghost busters when you need them???

Lots of Chinese here in the US where I live and have a few Chinese friends and they are all really nice people. They work hard, are good with their families and don't make any problems that I have ever heard of.

i will make this clear again since you are too stupid to understand. i dont have a problem with mainlanders studying in the uk or us. i have lots of chinese friends myself. i was just wondering are there any other reasons that mainlanders coming abroad might have instead of actually studying. and i dont have time to post a report. i have better things to do instead of being around a prosititute website 24/7. oh and posting a report on screwing a prostitute doesnt make you a man incase you are serious.

What?
If you can't think of some reasons why some people come to the UK from China then you seriously don't know how the world works.

The short answer is money.
