Exactly my sentiment.
With the quality and variety and great service in HK. while not as open or institutionalized as what happens in places like Bangkok (an aptly named city if there ever was one!
), there is a lot of great action here you just need to know where to find it. In my own opinion, it ain't happening in Wanchai.
What's on offer in this city I have likened to the buffets at the big hotels. Like buffets? Then most hotels in town put on at least three times a day a buffet, and some even have tea time and late-night dessert buffet and so you could eat at a different buffet in a different hotel for months without having had the same meal in the same place twice.
there is also scope in terms of quality and atmosphere, from the high-end Karaoke to the low end HKD 200 places where you rock up, blow your load in a dirty curtained cubicle with a Thai girl and then take off (like the punk mamasan facility down the street from KP)
One would think that working in a, for example, donut shop one would get tired of eating all the free donuts you can (for example an ex GF was the hostess at a sushi restaurant in LA and part of the deal was, if you wanted all the sushi you could eat).
Not however in my case with chickens, it would seem. I partake every week at least once a week usually two times
, the only constraints stopping me from doing it more than this much are exhaustion (because I do a lot of work with weights at the gym) and my work schedule which has a lot of meetings; luckily I am not constrained by the monetary aspects.
Like most folks here, I like the continuous variety of available and constantly changing inventory. I also have my regulars that I see consistently over the course of, in some cases now, two or three years
I have been doing this for about nine years continuously, and never get tired of it and never will. there are a couple of times say once every two or three months when I'm thinking "should I go for it?", but say no let's go to the gym, or no let's just get home from work early today, but this is not the norm. There are some weeks when to my travel schedule I am out of Hong Kong for five days in a week, and I cannot wait to get back to Hong Kong and jump into the game next week!
just my experiences. May not apply to everyone. YMMV, etc
Keep on mongering
