Selling Ipad 2

I was just wondering if it would be worth it for me to buy 3-4 ipad 2 in NA and then bring it back to HK to sell it during my trip in around end of april? I heard that HK won't have it in stock yet so the price of it woud bid up in HK.......Hopefully I would be able to make some cash for mongering!.....what you guys think?!?!

You wouldn't have trouble selling them that's for sure. iPhone 4's were going for more than double in the few weeks after release.

It doesn't matter whether it's released or not. These things sell so well in HK, I just sold my used iPhone 4 (about 4-5 months old) for the same price as the advertised new price ($5800 on the Apple HK website). A new iPad 2 will be selling well above the listed price for at least a few months.

Saw on the news that even now people are queuing up every day to buy new iPhone 4s at Broadways and Forteresses. The woman they interviewed said that she did this every day for a month, made over HK$10,000.

When the first ipad came out last year I bought 4 from the US and sold them in HK.It just so happened that I was going to HK a few weeks after the ipad was announced. I did not make double what I paid for on each one but I did make at least 40 to 60% more. People in HK already had contacts to buy them from the US and send them over the day it was released.

Also the new iPhone is expected to be released over the summer.  Having the 4 though not sure what the upgrades will be.   Maybe the antenna issue will get resolved?

remember though, that the first iPad had production issues and took a while to reach HK. not only took a while to reach HK, but actually took Apple a while to give a launch date.

the fact that they're very confident now and given launch dates 2 weeks from the actual US launch should indicate that they are quite confident about the supply chain delivering the demand

that sounds a bit like hyped up reporting

only $333 / day for a month's hanging around in shops??

need a reality check there ...

mind you it's not bad for someone on minimum wage

But your 'release worldwide' date is mainly only for European countries. In Asia, only Japan gets the same release date (March 25). The rest of Asia is apparently later still with no date set yet (rumour has it 2 weeks after March 25)

You've got to be kidding me. Logistics.

There are plenty of connections where by people will ship from USA into Hong Kong !  These resellers have got it down already.

It's not worth the trouble.

LOL!  Is the demand for the ipad2 in HK that feverish?  Because I'd sure like to get in on this!  I just thought that with the knockoffs so widely available in HK and China, that there wouldn't be such a ridiculous secondary market.  But lemme know guys!  I need an excuse to visit HK anyway!

I am thinking that I could contact buyers in HK and then ship it from the states on the first day of release.........but by shipping it raises the risk......as even with paypal the buyer could reverse the payment ......probably in person is the way to go

Hk peeps are really materialistic, they want the latest gadgets. If you bring the iPad2 with you there will always be someone wanting to buy one, just post adds a couple weeks before you come and I'm sure you will find people.
I remember when the iPhone4 came out they were selling it in some stores for 10-15k depending if it was US or UK version..

If that's the case, then you've already answered your own question.

Risk of losing money = NONE.  Potential Income = up to maybe 50% of value(?) depending on several factors.

So go for it.

Side note:

That's the advantage of having excellent consumer rights in NA, sometimes it's being abused.  (I'm not saying in your case right now).

Apple PR released the news to the media yesterday that Hong Kong, Korea and Singapore will get the Ipad2 in April 2011.
