Or if you are really desperate, go to Mcdonald's and other fast food shops and ask for those small salt packets. Based on news reports the reactors with problems have radioactive iodine. So if it's in the air and you lack iodine your body will absorb the radioactive iodine. #10 Post at 18-3-2011 03:25  Profile P.M.  Font size: S M L What people who panic buy normally don't know is that iodine meds have some fun side-effects.  If you see a load of Shanghaiese with swollen thyroids, you know they've been on meds that they shouldn't really be taking. It's typical Chinese overreaction.   They're probably ingesting salt by the bucketload right now.  If the radiation, that may or may not come, doesn't kill them then the high blood pressure will.  You'd probably need to eat a few bags of salt to get the protection of one iodine tablet. And the funny thing is, anti-radiation meds are very limited in their usefulness anyway.  If you're near the plant, or even under 100km away, sure, take the meds.  If you're all the way over here in Hong Kong, forget about it, and let nature and short radioactive half-lives take care of everything before that nasty glowing cloud reaches us.

As part of the deal they can throw in an IPad 2 as the loss leader. But honestly the amount of radiation that is being leaked into the atmosphere is many times smaller than the amount of radiation that was thrown into the skies from the numerous nuclear bombs testings carried out by the Soviet Union, USA, other nuclear powers in the 40's, 50's, 60s, and 70's. So all those old ppl who are queuing to buy salt in Asia and Brooklyn obviously were not that affected from those bombs testing as they are still healthy enough to queue for hours to buy salt.
