i think there are many loopholes.

I went to Pattaya with a Guangzhou girl.
We travelled from Zhuhai ferry terminal to HKIA directly, then flew to Bangkok.
She did not apply for Visa, but when we were at Zhuhai immgration, she went into a small room to fill up a form.
When she crossed the immigration, she gave her passport and that form, then went thru without any problems.
i asked her what that form is for, she said the form is a confirmation of her residency status, return-air ticket, hotel accom.
the people in the small room checked all details and approve the form. the immigration officer will let her leave the country as long as the form is signed and confirmed... even if she doesn't have a pre-applied Visa.


Another reason why i say Thailand Visa is not needed:
several PRC girls that i met in Macau, they do not have Thailand visa, but they also managed to fly to Bangkok from Macau.
i remembered clearly, because one of them invited me to go with them, i didn't want to go, so i lied, and said i don't have Visa, so can't go.
all of them laughed at me and said even they themselves do not need Visas, why do i need one?
hence i always have the impression that there are many many ways to get out the country without a Visa.

It sounds like you just need some proof of transit to HKA. NO permit is need for HK.

1. So there is NO need to obtain a visa ( entry permit ) to HK before entering HKG.  

    Note: a visa will be gotten for the other country before leaving for Hong Kong,

2. Then there is NO need to obtain a visa ( entry permit ) when returning....

Is this correct ?

PRC side is generally much stricter than HK side.
so if PRC immigration can let a person leave, HK usually will let them in.


and new update;
last night i was talking to a ChangChun girl.

she entered HK using only her passport. No visa, no permit, no multi-pass used.
she went to Lowu, went to a travel agency shop, bought a fake Cambodia return airticket for RMB 300.
tried entering HK thru Lowu, but got rejected, PRC immigration said she doesn't have sufficient documents to leave the country...
she then went to the border at Shenzhen Wan, and this time, managed to enter HK.
after playing in HK for 7 days, she came back to China via Shenzhen, the PRC immgration officer ask her why there's no Cambodia chop on the passport?
she just reply.. "Oh I missed my flight, no money to afford another ticket.."
that's it, end of story, she just used RMB 300 to enter HK.

OH WOW!!  No doubt that this is all true.
Typical of PRC dudes to right away be able to spot and take advantage of ANY loop-holes.

I now worry that if this "practice" gets to be used too often by PRC nationals, that sooner or later the Hong Kong Immigration department is going to be a whole lot stricter.

I mean,  the way things are right now with the HK government just giving these PRC nationals 7 days to "transit" through Hong Kong - how long are they going to continue doing this if it keeps getting abused as per your post?

BTW - Cambodia is another country that insists everybody has a visa to enter - but will provide such visa on arrival; thus allowing the Government to over-charge for this visa, whilst the immigration officers also rakes it in in terms of bribes, "acceptable" passport photos which costs US$20 to take at the airport, form filling service etc etc!

Sigh....!!

Just as a follow up - since I just got back from my trip to Thailand with a PRC national.

We went as solo travellers and thus my PRC national friend did have to pre-apply for a Thai visa. (only a PRC GROUP traveller would be eligible for Thai Visa on arrival - PLUS  The PRC immigration control would not allow a PRC national to LEAVE the country if travelling solo and without an onward destination visa).

We arranged this visa thru a CP travel agent for RMB 350 plus 2 passport photos - which is quite reasonable IMHO as the cost charged by the consulate for the visa alone is (as stated on the visa) already RMB 230, and we didn't need to go ourselves up to GZ and line up etc in the morning.  This single entry tourist Visa was good for 3 months, and upon entry in Thailand, the permitted stay was for 60 days vs. just 30 days if you didn't have this visa.

We travelled via Hong Kong (spent a day at Disneyland of all places!! Yeah!) and the PRC national was given a 7 day transit visa for Hong Kong, and would have been given another 7 days transit visa in Hong Kong on the way back, but as it was, we travelled directly from Bangkok to Shenzen.
