best way to intro yourself is write a freak ass report
Agreed, that's the best way. I wrote 7 reports and a summary in 5 days as an introduction.
As a newbie, I felt that I shouldn't be polluting the forums with chatter that doesn't add to the discussions. Not that I'm not doing some of that now
, but I feel like I've got some street cred after writing a few field reports. I'm still a newbie really, despite my conqueror status, I have less than 40 hours on the forums swan, BPB, siklong and HeMan all have about 10x that, CL has more than 20x, and hunter and twice about 40x.
b.t.w. for all you aspiring newbies, I actually went from zero to over 200 karma in under a week by writing those reports. this group is very dynamic and participation is addictive. our members respect those who contribute, and the fastest way to earn that respect is post reports (and pictures
).
there's such a wealth of information here about our "hobby", all you need to do is read. some if it is actually organized so you can find it! and remember, it's a good idea to read the FAQ before posting questions. a good rule of thumb is that if the question is less than 10 words, search around to see if it's already been answered.
Welcome aboard Derek, I'm looking forward to reading your first report and checking out your first photos!
