#29 Post at 7-2-2009 09:19  Profile P.M.  Font size: S M L I sort of found the question legit too... ...in case anyone really wanted to know, I find the best rates at times are in MK, there are exchange places and even some retail stores that do exchanges as well... odd huh?  But when I am in China, I always carry 100USD bills and get a nice exchange rate through the black market, via my Uncle who gives this dude a call and he comes by the house.

Fairly innocent (naive) question on forex gets too strong (my opinion) response, then the flame thrower comes out from the newbie, who has previously registered two different names? To give benefit of doubt just because newbie referred to not wanting to get ripped off by money changer doesn't mean he didn't want to use one, maybe he just wanted to know which money changers could be trusted to give good rate and real local currency (i.e. not counterfeit)? He does sound like he hasn't travelled much, hotels always give the worst rate and airport forex is crap too. Private money changer likely to give the best rates, but this is not without risk. Fo me personally I like to hit the ground running and already have my HK$ before I arrive, why waste time ....
