Hope you bros will forgive me (and this belongs both in Thailand and rest of the world sections), but this is a half-time report of general impressions from my August SE Asian BnB (birdz & beez) tour. I’m not a seasoned Thailand-Philippine pro like a lot of you bros, and summer 2022 was my first go go bar trip. But the 2 year confinement drove me to new depths, so as I reported in a few recent posts, I did my maiden voyage to Angeles City for a weeklong rompation tour. I’ll follow up with a couple Bangkok reports soon, but this report is just to give some thoughts about the frequent “should I go to Philippines or Thailand for best punting” debate.

My original 3-week itinerary was to be a AC-Manila-one other Philippine outpost to see how the brown sugar was faring in 2022. Everybody knows about AC already but it was my virgin venture, and you know what, I can’t wait to go back (at least before the hordes of punters re-invade). I listed overnight prices (3000-4000 PHP) for 3 good punts there and I had to walk away from some other promising freelancers that I met there.

Manila was a different story. I was prepared to pay a lot more on my 2nd wing to Manila and I opted for a well known mid-range guest friendly hotel right near Burgos area. I’ve read the recent posts from other bros who had a good run there and in other Manila areas, but it didn’t work for me from the moment I got to Makati. My first night out there was nothing but dodging aggressive ladyboys, pushy freelancers and street kids trying to pick my pockets. It was like a hailstorm. I only saw a few places for girls but it just wasn’t very promising. And all the online reports about how hot Manila women are… I just didn’t see it.

Before I went to Manila, I read a negative mongering report (different site) from a guy who left Manila in a huff and puff calling it a “sh..thole.” Nothing against any of my respected bros or Pinay ladyfriends but there's some truth to what he says. By day, it felt reasonably chill (except for endless traffic thundering up to my 19th floor room and the toxic fumes pumped into my lungs from passing jeepneys), and the only thing that saved me was the nice rooftop pool where I could lounge about. But once night came it just didn’t feel safe or chill, welcoming or safe. The food was awful, streets are ugly, and the prices average looking girls were quoting was out of this galaxy 5-10k PHP. After a few days my lb was losing his little lustre and I wasn’t in the mood for adventure.

The other thing is that prices in the PH are inflated across the board. Look, Thailand and the Philippines just haven’t moved at the same pace in the past 20 years. And even though Thailand really isn’t the land of smiles anymore (being overrun by tourists for decades), it has built a nice infrastructure to match its increasing prices. Not so in the PH. It looks the same as videos from 40 years ago but its not really cheap anymore. Hotels, restaurants, bars, and girls are all at super inflated prices (in my opinion).

That’s to say that I was looking to cut my Manila stay short and check out other PH spots. But after going online to search Boracay, Cebu and elsewhere, it looked like more of the same – gotta watch your ass everywhere (even AC wasn’t feeling that safe at times), gotta pay inflated prices for mediocre hotels and bad food, and AC seems to be the best girl option out there. But I wasn’t feeling like going back to AC just yet so…

I made a spontaneous decision to ditch the PH and go to Bangkok. My hotel was nice enough to refund the last couple days, but I ate my PH-HK ticket fare from the local airline (also inflated and horribly inoperable website). It took me all of an hour to book my Thai airways ticket to Bkk and Soi 8 hotel with nice rooftop pool and 5 minutes from Nana. My last uneventful (except bad sleep) night in Manila, taxi to the airport and poof! I was on the chill skytrain into central Bangkok (surrounded by Thai lovelys everywhere).

In a nutshell, I cut my 20 day PH tour in half and spent the last 10 beautiful days enjoying spicy Thai streetfood (a couple dollars per delectable feast) at every meal, an increasingly chill Bkk vibe (as long as you can get a half block away from the main street), nightlife on the rebound without any sense of threat to my personal security, now clean(!!!) Bangkok air (among the best pollution index ratings in the world, if you can believe it), and 360 degree girl possibilities 24/7. Ok, as I’ll write about in the coming reports, the Bangkok girl seen really is over commercialized now, but it’s that way in PH too. Just that to me the overall punting tour was overall apples to oranges better in Bkk.

I know some of you guys prefer the PH and I gotta say the girls there have unrivalled skills (ok I got Pinay fever too...) And a lot of the things I don’t like about Manila seem to attract others. I get that. I’m already planning my next AC romp tour as we speak, but I saved my August hedonist’s post-Covid reunion tour by making that sudden detour to Bangkok (where I’ll be back to even sooner). Spirits were oh sooooo good on my Thai Air flight back to HK (even with the stinking quarantine still in place). For my 2 cents, it was worth it all the way!

Philippines is a place you need to recalibrate your expectations that's for sure, they aren't going to change, you have to.  If you do business there this goes double, nothing simple and straightforward.  I think this is because there is a reluctance to say no, seems they will more likely agree (or miss essential info) than give you a straight up no.   On top of this, there is a general lack of initiative taken - never going to be their problem.  

Still the advantages outweigh the disadvantages at least for me!  Lot of time you need to chill and let it wash over you.  The benefits generally come in the form of a 40-50kg hotel delivered package, makes the frustration worthwhile.

I agree with you about Manila on most counts - compared to many cities it is a stinky, smelly, mess and feels as safe as a civilian in a motorcycle gang's club house.

However, when it comes to finding some action i must have lucked out on my unexpected 18-hour layover. The airlines picked up the tab not too far from the airport and a quick laptop check had me order a nuru masseuse come to my room after i had dinner.

She arrived promptly at the agreed to hour as noted by the front desk phoning up and asking if i was expecting a guest. Then a gentle knock at the door and HOLY JUMPing JESUS - she was hot! Definitely in the top three WG's i had been with that year. The posted photos of her were just a likeness for hair length, height, and body style - she was three times better looking in person, had an impish grin that said we're gonna have some fun and hopped into the shower.

The games began and could have finished there, but we dried off and got her heavy plastic bed cover over the bedding and lubed up each other like there was no tomorrow. Soon she let it be known that FS was on the table for extra $$$

To cut it short we were both after the same thing in Manila, but you elected to walk around and bump into it; while i let my fingers do the walking and found a delectable morsel online.

I think the big difference that people dont realize is there has been a pretty hard crackdown of all the good spas that used to be available around metro manila.  Alot of raids and so alot of the good talent has gone underground now and you need to work for it. Bangkok is really just in your face about it. I enjoy manila more since you can communicate a lot easier with them and if you do your homework they provide much better service and it isnt just a hit it and quit it for them. So depending on how much you know about the scene and how much time you have to explore really makes or breaks manila.

I agree with Hotnax here. In the past 4 years, I've seen around 8 spas/massage parlors close down, (Stargate Spa being a favorite because of how near it was). Everyone has gone underground.

As for my own opinion, you should definitely try and checkout www.manilatonight.com (most of the forum replies there are in Tagalog but establishments post are mostly in English) if you're gonna stay in the Manila-Makati area. A lot of the former spa talent have gone online and a good chunk of the remaining spas do business via Web, Viber, Whatsapp, or Telegram. Maybe go around, shop, eat in restos. I don't think hotel food is really good not unless you stay in the 4-5 star hotels here. Then when it's time, just book the ladies and they'll come to you.

It has really good perspective and is well written. I'm still a newb when it comes to punting and mongering but I've started to realize more things thanks to his post. Was eating in a Japanese resto once when I saw this chick who was dining with a suspiciously elder gentleman. Worked the courage to talk to her while the elder gent was away and it turned out she was a freelancer. You really do need to work you way here. I got her number too.

Would definitely like to visit Bangkok sometime and see what it's like to be in a place where mongering is more publicly accepted.

I think manila would be great if you had at least a week or two so you can do the online thing with SA. I would also only stay at Makati/BGC since they're the business centres or near MOA to be near the casinos.

AC is great for cheap gfe, but the place has been in decline for a while and I'm no longer Ken to return.

But overall, I too prefer bkk. The gogo girls are pretty expensive (600-1k barfine, + 3k short time + drinks) at the Asian oriented bars, but the quality is much higher than AC. And you definitely cannot compare the food between the two countries.

Not a big fan of Manila either. High prices and crazy traffic 24/7. Some decent buffet and more food variety than AC. Manila only good for ktv. Many pretty girls at ktv but takes long time to get them to go out and have to spend some $ on her before can boom.

Manila sucks but delivery services work well.

I hear what you say about AC but my experiences there have been consistently good - great value and charming companions.  Massage services to your room are first class.  

2 hr trip up the highway from NAIA in air conditioned comfort and you are good to go with decent accommodation at a good price or you can go the Marriott in Clark for 5 star accommodation.  Still an excellent range of ladies available at the multitude of bars in Walking Street and beyond.  

A simple plan would be to have a few days at Central Park Tower, ~P5000/night - nice pool and bar area on top floor.  Head over to Tarana Massage for an hour or two foot massage to relax - if you want food or a drink just pay them to bring to you.  If you like the experience then ask for a hotel massage and enjoy a full body massage (more if you want) for the same reasonable cost.  After a little nap, pop into Tequila Reef for a drink and to eat (be careful the Margeritas can bite you hard).

Later on take a walk, definately stop at Gecko's, it's a fun place.  So many bars to try even now, you are sure to find someone you want to spend time with.  Try two at a time, it works well most of the time.  

Only bother there is an asshole called "PhilinthePhilippines" with his video camera and YouTube channel.  The prick seems to pop up more times than I thought possible.

Manila girls rate are inflated nowadays. Those spas in MTC charges outrageous price as well compared to nearby countires such as Malaysia, Thailand, Vietnam, Indonesia.

for me, i think prices pretty much the same or maybe even lower in ph.
you just need to know where to look at.

hk prices has ~500dollars (almost 4000php) just for 30mins..
others even charges more i think..

same goes with mtc spas..
prices could start from 3500kphp for 60mins..
plus you have options of massage parlors where some would be lower than 3500 php..
