Well....I just want to thank all the bros for giving their opinion....

I finally bought a phone...despite what I was looking at first, I went completely the other direction in terms of functionality.. I ended up buying a Nokia...the E71...

The camera is decent, but the best part is that I can report from anywhere!...

That and I just like the style of this phone, its got a 'corporate' feel to it, and I feel like I'm a big time CEO now..hahahahaa...

It also makes it easier for me to keep in touch with my overseas friends since I can check my emails tooo..

You made a good choice... sorry for being asleep at the wheel and not commenting earlier.

The E71 is one of the phone's I would have recommended. I use one when I'm in Asia.

There's also a similar Nokia that's just come out that has most of the same features, the E63. Unfortunately the E63 has a 2MP camera instead of the 3.2MP camera in the E71.

If you want Windows Mobile, I'd suggest the new Palm Treo Pro. I'm not sure what the price would be for that in Hong Kong, but it's the best phone they've built to date.

CES is coming up in a couple of days and there will be some new product announcements, one for sure is a Palm device using their new Nova operating system. I'm interested in taking a look at that.

Of course the ultimate communications device is still the Blackberry, and the one I'm using now is the new Bold 9000. Great screen wonderful messaging, marginal camera. Thephotos and video that I've taken with my E71 are quite a bit better.

But the Iphone is quite sexy!

I use the iPhone...there are a lot of apps that are useful for everyday purposes and mongering!!! The only downside is that the battery life is pretty bad. I've actually had to recharge the phone after half a days intense use!!!

Actually, I have found the iPhone quite common in Hong Kong, seems nearly 1 in 10 have the iPhone!!!

it is quite popular I agree......i just don't like touch screens..but i feel like i should give it a try....

but then the battery life is quite shit....my Nokia E71 last at least 5 days....sometimes 7 days...

I changed from an O2 mini to the iPhone 2G and now iPhone 3G...I would never go back to a non-touch screen phone!!!!

There's a poker game on the iPhone which you use the same hand movements to ask for cards or sticking with your hand. Could say its a bit like the Wii

I usually carry a battery booster just in case I need to charge while I am outside.

I still don't understand what's so great about the iPhone. It looks great but not that great. In a few months' time I'm sure there'll be new phones coming out that will blow the iPhone away. Only that they won't have the Apple label on it. I'm ready to buy a new phone but still haven't found one that I MUST get.

Paka. What kind of phone capabilities are you looking for? Judging for your previous posts, I'm guessing a high MP camera is important. Ease of web browsing as well? Any features that you would like? Also, which kind of phone fits your preferece? Flip, pull-out or always ready type of phone?

I'll take a look at some phone models here in Japan since they have a wide range of sexy phones.

how much can i expect to pay for a used smart phone with the following features...

looking for at least 5MP camera to take pics of HG.
ideally, vid as well.
must have wifi with a browser to surf the web
touchscreen.
Doesn't have to be the latest model.

any recommendations on a model as well?
