ABCs

Hi folks - just looking for some little advice or suggestions. I’m visiting HK in the near future from the states and this will be my first time back since basically being born there.

Are there any expectations of being Chinese/HK but not really? I’m straight up the stereotypical banana. My Chinese is passable if I was in the second grade. Feel like if I was anything but Chinese there’s no expectations, or maybe I’m just thinking into it too much considering HK is so diverse these days.

Thoughts?

I'm an ABC and have no real problem in HK cept for when I need to order food at the cha chan ting.  Then being an ABC sucks ass.  If you can't read the chinese make sure you have data and google translate or bing and your all set.  Just remember some slang won't translate well.  But i think we have a post somewhere in the forum that has the slang meaning

no worries, alot of ABC's and BBC's in hk have no issues getting services, thou suggest some apps like google translate, wechat to be on the safe side
