I'm looking for a guest friendly hotel and I've heard some won't let you have guests. Recommendations are always helpful as are warnings (i.e. stay away from XYZ hotel). Anyway just an idea.

Care to share some reports first? I think this could be a good idea.. but I have not been to a hotel in HK that does not allow 'guests'? China is not a good location for this, however the lobby people are rather lax about you taking someone up provided they were not with you during the check-in. Sorry I have to disagree....maybe I got lucky. I have not being asked/stopped in ShenZhen China before.....RitzCarlton Futian, Hilton Futian, Langham NanShan, Sheraton Futian and WongTee V Futian....etc.  Having said that, I always bring them back with me, never had them wait for me downstairs or try to enter the lobby by themselves.....regardless who was with me while I checked in with.
