Vietnam HCMC

As usual on my business trips, I was planning on meeting some girls outside for dinner and take them back to the hotel.  Recently, I saw that some hotels don't allow girls up to the rooms.  Is this true?

Some three star hotels will not allow, 4-5 don't have a problem based on my experience from two years ago.  There are plenty of short stay hotels around town that charge around 3-5 usd minimum for three hours so it shouldn't be a problem finding a place to get busy.

My experience is mostly in Hanoi, but I have been to HCMC a few times.  My impression is just the opposite.  3* places are very flexible, while 4* or 5* are much less so.  For example, I had six WGs visit me in a 3* hotel in Hanoi within a 24-hour period.  None of them had any trouble.  The only time I had trouble (different hotel) was when one girl did not have an ID card (she had lost it).  Even then, I went done to the desk and managed to get her in.

By contrast, I brought a Malaysian Chinese girl (21 years old) on a business trip with me to HCMC.  We stayed at the Caravelle (5*).  They grilled her about her identity.  The staff were very clear that if she were Vietnamese, there's no way they would let her near the elevator.

Have fun, CGP

I had recently made an inquiry with a 5* hotel in HCMC located in District 1. The reservation people informed me of their policy regarding foreigners and single Vietnamese women sharing the same room.

Vietnamese law does not permit single Vietnamese girls/women to share a room with a foreigner unless they could prove that they are married.

However, the hotel would accept/allow the single girl/woman to share the room with the foreigner if she is officially entered as a registered guest. That means that the foreigner must register for 2 people when making the reservation, and provide the hotel the full
(official ) name of the female in question beforehand, and both parties must check in at the same time, the woman must produce an official recognized ID (passport or the căn cước công dân), where the hotel would make a photocopy and keep on file. With these conditions met, the woman may then share the room with the single man as an official guest and then they can do whatever they wish behind closed doors.

Should the conditions not be met, for example, should the woman's name is on the reservation as a registered guest, and she has the required ID, but fails to be present with the man at the time of checking in, then she would be considered as a regular visitor, As a regular visitor, the woman must show (and leave) her official ID at the front desk each time she visits and curfew time is 9pm each evening.

Should the woman have no official ID, then she would not even be allowed to enter the hotel.

From what i have read up ... You should always try booking 2 or 3 star hotels if you want to bring guests. Do ensure that you guest has an ID on her and that your room must have been booked for 2 person in the first place.
Best way to find out if joiner fee or guests are allowed... Do email the hotel.

Cheerz!

I would stick to the 5* hotel (in my case), should I decide to visit, simply because the local authorities may be less inclined to mess around with the larger international hotel chains as they have more clout. But these same local authorities may be less hesitant to visit the smaller places and apply the $$$ squeeze on the management/guests. Never been to VT, but with so many stories told, heard, and read, just do not want to save a few bucks and ending up spending much more on the long run.

I just came back from my visit to HCMC. I checked into the 5-star hotel in District One. No issue with the lady being allowed to stay with me. True to their word, all she had to do was to check in at the same time as I and presented her official ID card (which the reception clerk took a photocopy). After that, everything was good. And needless to say, I had a grand time.

I'm flying into HCMC on Xmas eve for 3 weeks.

Going to have all the family with me which i'm looking forward too. We are going to be moving around a few different cities which should be fun exploring some new places and some old familiar ones. Love the people and food in Vietnam.

I'm going to have plan things out and try and get something on the sly. Hopefully it won't be to difficult

I had at least 3 different WG's join me in my room during a month long stay in HCM.  Be sure she has a VN ident card to leave at the desk when you take her with you.

It must be admitted though, after a few weeks of this the hotel desk staff told me the girls have to leave by 10 PM.   That was fine, since I never planned any all night sessions.
