Newbie here with some questions...

I am looking to book a WG for two days in HK to be a tour guide by day, and GF by night. Does anyone know where/how I would go about doing this?

Also, does anyone know if it is okay to bring WG to the Intercontinental (by ave of stars)?

I'm curious too - how would the hotel even know she's a WG? After you check into your hotel room, can't you just walk up to your room afterwards without having to check in guests?

Intercontinental Grand Standford = no problem. no keycard required to work the lifts, brought up sw by the water fountain up to my room many times, no problems. just be wary of the walk of shame through the large marble foyer in the evening

I have done this in Bangkok, Manila, Macau, and Shanghai -- but in each case the gal was a WG bargirl I already knew...  (met them in Wanchai and they became regulars).

In HK I would try one of two things:

1)  Hit Wanchai bars on your first nite and try your luck.  These gals are ALL freelancers so set their own schedule and dont work daytimes anyway.  If you click go ahead and ask.

2)  try social media sites (Whatsapp, WYP, the chinese ones) before your trip -- you'll likely find several agreeable options.  Only problem is that you dont get to sample first to see if you actually WANT to spend a few full days with them.

Thought those girls in bar are Indon/Philipiness domestic helper ? U have to try ur luck to get a nice one.
As far as I know, those good freelancers don't usually go to the bars as they get good biz from their online ad.

It seems as though our reports about the DH maid parade (on Sunday) is giving people the wrong impression about Wanchai.

Go read TonyToro's "Best and worst Mongering Bars" sticky thread to get the full set of details. But, in short, the Wanchai bars are mostly full of full-time, freelance WGs in town on a short-stay toursit visa .  They are mostly Thai, Filipina, Viet, Indo, plus a few other varieties (including some Russians, Africans and Mongolians). They are almost always free daytimes -- but usually sleeping given they hit the bars every nite till late.

On Sundays (and Saturdays to a lesser extent) the DHs have their day off and hit these bars to partyand (sometimes) earn some supplemental income.

Random comment here about why I think this is a bad idea.

- You'll have to pay the WG her full rate. So let's just say that she charges 500 HKD for 45 min, for a 15 hour day (8 AM to 11 PM) that's 10,000 HKD AND tips on top of that. You're essentially covering her losses from not working.
- You're assuming that the WG would actually make a good tour guide. The job sounds simple, but if that were really true then there would be a more people doing this sort of job. The fact is that it's not simple. A tour guide has to entertain the paying people, know the sights of the city and know what you're interested in.
- You're assuming that you'll have rapport with the WG. What if you don't like her after an hour? What if she doesn't like you? Then what are you going to do?

What are you really expecting here? A tour guide or just a guaranteed lay after a long day? I've seen a lot of guys in Thailand try looking for a WG + tour guide and it's always resulted in a terrible outcome.

That said, Hong Kong is one of the easiest cities in the world to travel solo.

Hehe...  You are not wrong, Freelancer..., but:

I made different assumptions than you based on my time in HK.

I didn't suggest paying a penny more by finding a freelancer (either through social media or the Wanchai bars).  These gals are bored and live in shitty, tiny dorms with a 5-10 other freelancers.  They love regulars getting them out of that for a bit, and I've had no problem finding a "companion" to join me daytimes for lunch, movies, or whatever.  You pay the usual overnite price.

But yeah, you need to click first.., and it is a "companion", not a tour guide.  In my case, the gals were regulars, so we had certainly clicked by that point.

I am staying at the Intercontinental... the The Intercontinental on the ave of stars, not the Intercontinental Grand Stanford. And I could always go to the hotel lobby and meet the girl and bring her up, rather than have her meet me at my door.

Good point about picking up free lancers, but since most free lancers are foreigners, they wouldn't make great tour guides. I also would much prefer a HK/Chinese girl over other SE Asian girl.

How would one go about finding a free lancer via social media? I know there are phone numbers of WG on this website, and that's the only method I know of contacting a WG before actually arriving in HK.
