KTV

I am in Toronto this week and my WYP date did not work out.  No big deal as I was not expecting it to, so I ended up having some time on my hands.

So I've never been to a KTV and I noticed on yelp that I am close k-town where there are a couple.  I was thinking about trying it out if I have a free night, but have a couple questions.
1) are the KTVs pretty much the same globally?
2) is it worthwhile going solo?

Any advise would be appreciated.
