For local food I go to Hay Hay Kitchen opposite Mes Amis bar
Lunch its the White Stag or Devils Advocate (food comes from the same kitchen) they do a good $79 special each week day.

Actually Queen Vic does great food, I've been at lunch time a few times

Their fish-and-chips and bangers and mash are just the fix for someone who's missing blighty.  Getting a couple of plates of something to share around a table is a great way to break the ice with any party girls in the place.

Hehe dart, those were the only two things I ever ordered there. Fish'n' chips or Bangers 'n' Mash. (ohh, sometimes Chicken wings).

I can't say any of it was world-class food --- but definately edible. And well, the company and atmosphere had it's own seductive allure, right?

The best thing about those two pubs (OCH and Queen Vic) was the wickedly diverse and (often) odd blokes you would meet. From all over the world. And how they found themselves at OCH that nitewas usually a good story all by itself.

But, again, not for someone looking for a "refined" evening.

Anyway.. Food in Wanchai??  You MUST try CintaJ!!!  (across from Escape).   Specializes in all flavours of South East Asian (Thai, PI, Vietnamese, etc). Damn good food, and often MANY off-duty bargirls from said-country enjoying a bit of their homeland staples during their downtime. This is a great Wanchai secret.  Ahh... Memories.

Totally agree with Wander. CintaJ is a good place to go and Hay Hay's mentioned by cruman is good too.

There is a thai (1st floor, close to New Makati cant remember the name) more discreet and I like going to the Dog House (food is not so good imho).

I had one of my WGs from the PI take me to CintaJ one night and I loved it. Food was amazing, band was crazy good, and my date was in heaven.

Next day I met up with my DH girl and 4 of her friends near OCH.  They all want to get eat lunch and introduce me to a great place to eat in the area.  We walk straight to CintaJ.  I said nothing.

Our waitress was the same one I had from the previous night while with my PI girl.  Now with my Indo DH, the waitress gave me a very knowing, "I could fuck up your world" look when we recognized each other.  She kept our previous meeting and my other dinner partner on the down low while I was there with my DH.  Needless to say, when I picked up the check she was handsomely rewarded with a 40% tip.

Crisis averted.

Did I mention the food was amazing at CintaJ?

J

my fave WC eating place was Heat... a few doors down from the White Stag. Heat served delicious thai food but in Tapas style/size servings enabling you to sample lots of different dishes over some cleansing ales... loved the food in that place, sadly it's gone. My 100% favourite restaurant in HK though is Jimmy's Kitchen - TST and Central.

If you're in WC and don't mind travelling to Causeway Bay, check out Times Square. Several floors of great eateries, local, Japanese, Thai, almost anything you want. A wide variety of pricing to suit most budgets.

You have Thai Delight (two doors down from 109) which is good for discreet encounters but it is pricey. My favourite eatery during my drunken Sundays was Thai Hut. Cheap food, open but it tastes pretty good (anything is good when you are drunk with the munchies) and you are smack bang in the middle of the action. Lots of indo and Filipino girls go there - crowded - and i used to just ask if I could sit at their table of there was a spare seat.

Farmer Thai, Lockhart Rd. Any of the little, open places between Lockhart and Delaney's pub on Luard; Delaney's itself (good pub food). Mes Amis (Lockhart/Luard cnr) Ebeneezer's Kebabs already mentioned, but their sauces taste vaguely Indian (could be cos of management :p) and they aren't a patch on Beyrouth in Lyndhurst Tce.

11 Bro's have responded out of 140 hits,so I guess the other 129 'lurkers'

Thanks to all bro's much better response than I expected and looking forward to trying as

many establishments as I can. Wanchai's got everything.

Delaney's for Western-style pub food, Farmer Thai for, well, you guess. There's a 'Mexican' joint around the corner on Lockhart too, but never tried it. Give me a yell when you get to HK, and I'll shout you a beer at Delaney's.

Pizza express - for pizza LOL!  Paisano's is ok but I prefer the pizza at PE.

Sushi-  Itacho, Sushi Ba, or YuYu on Ship street is good.

Bekan Teppanyaki is amazing and has some of the best sushi I ever had, but shit it is expensive.

Want to really impress a hottie, take her to the lobster brunch at Domani on Saturday's.  It's in Admirality but close enough.  Just above the Pacific Place mall.  Wow it was good.

Garlic chili crab in Causeway bay is out of this world!!!

Wagyu in Central is another of my favorites.

I second Trafalgar and Old China/ Queen Vic.  I really prefer Trafalgar though because their menu is huge compared to the other two.

Cinta J, yep pinays really like that place.  It was so so for me.

Escape, honestly I enjoyed their food when in a drunken haze and it was late.

Pizza Bar, not bad if you really need the pizza fix at crazy times.

Wanchai market on Sundays just to look at the DH's.  LOL!!  Shit that place stinks though when it gets hot.  LOL..

Coyote, Meeehhh ate their once and never went back.

Chili club, good Thai food.  Service really sucked in this place though.  What is it with HK restaurants and good service?  The only places I got really good service was if I was spending more than 1000HK for the meal.

Ebeneezers, ah ok.  If you really want good Kebabs, go to Germany.  Lol real Turkish dudes serving up some great kebabs unlike the Indian stuff in HK.

Agree about HayHay, Ebeneezers (but like cass says, go to Beyrouth for the kebabs), Tsui Wah, Paisanos. Cinta J is good but overpriced.

I don't like the Thai restaurants on Lockhart... they're generally ok, but always overpriced. I prefer Ra Cha Moo Yang on Luard Rd., the Spice House on Amoy St, and Taste Thai Restaurant on Stone Nullah Lane.

Mr. Bing makes delicious Beijing style crepes near MTR Exit A3 on Johnston rd. Nowhere to sit, so eat at Suthorn Playground.

Oh Food is in a building nearby on Luard Rd. Good middle eastern food there.

American Restaurant on Lockhart near the police station makes good 'American style Chinese food'. Actually, way better than any Chinese food I had in the states.

Also check out some of the random cha cha tengs and noodle restaurants in the area, cheap and tasty. Usually there will be an English menu or someone who can help with translation.

In terms of bar food, Escape is fantastic, but not cheap. Have had some good noodles at New Makati too.

Ebeneezers
Spice House, small hole in the wall, short walk to Amoy St, north side of Southhorn Park.
There is another Thai place up the street from the Spice house same type of Thai food, slightly more expensive, but will not break the bank.
If you pick up a WG you want to impress, Koh Tahi on Ship Street just east a few blocks of Amoy St, Close to the Pawn.
The Pawn has good beer and drink, food in bar is boring, and a bit more expensive.
Trafalgers, good wings, decent beer selection.
I like Cinta J's, BUT!!  a buddy who went there with me got food poisoning, (Shit Happens, I guess) I go back though, but he certainly will NOT
I have seen the Pig Knuckle come out (although I have not tasted it) in Escape and it looks good. A buddy has had it and said yummy!
