Hi. I just read that Hongkongers have a generally tolerant attitude towards prostitution. But how tolerant? If I casually mentioned that I'm visiting WGs (and I like it) to my Hong Kong Chinese colleagues/friends (mid/late 20s, they're also jokingly discussing meeting girls with me sometimes, but our relationship is not that close), would they think I'm a lowlife or would be happy to hear more?
I know people are different, just want to know your general idea about it. Any experience you had?

I would definitely not disclose your hobby.  Chinese guys are gossip queens and it will be a form of a career suicidal move. Just discuss it here, afterall that's why you joined the forum.

They know its there and accept its there, but prefer to ignore it and not speak of it.

NO-ONE  will speak openly of this stuff unless you are will known friends in a private setting.

If you are beating the system, whether its taxes or business or permits or marriage, you will be seen as clever. But none of these are to be spoken of in public, except among very close friends. As others have said, gossip rules.

Most of my friends joke about it but real talk about it ? No. They laugh at the guy going to DG everyone knows what he went doing up there. As for many of my friends they don't consider getting massage and a HJ is a big deal as most of the HK men are doing this for relaxing. But real punting it isn't spoken off. And really I won't let any of them know if I am doing it or where I am doing it. They too close to my family. And last thing you want is to let your family know about it

Obviously there are going to be some that are accepting of this and some who will think of punters as low lifers. But many hong kongers that i know are accepting of it as they usually go and as they say 'kau leui' or 'diu kai'.

Yeah, everything that has been said is bang on - especially around your work life!  One must keep up appearances.

That said, it can be fun when the ice gets broken (within your close friends) and you can discuss it with one and become bar-hopping, punting mates.  Fun times!

But NEVER bring it up at or around work.  Keep your two lives separate -- office rumours like this are never good for a career.

i have a group of very close friends. Long term friends. We have a punting "crew". We have some business interests together. We often travel together and we "play" together. It is great fun going out, drinking, make your selection, punt, meet the group for breakfast in the morning to discuss how everything went. We share some great laughs. Always look out for each other.
we all have slightly different tastes in WGs as well so it's fun identifying targets for each other. We have our "code of ethics" where by once one of our crew has had a WG no one else will take her unless he gets the green light from the original Bro...

Having said that there are plenty of girls we have all had at different times. It's also funny because sometimes someone will find a real gem but want to keep her to himself for a while and so make up a story she was mediocre... but then you see the Bro take her 3 nights in a row... and you think... how mediocre can she be? LOL.

However...

we never discuss this outside of the group. We automatically assume newcomers are not participants until they PROVE they are... and we are very careful with this... even when a new Bro "says" he's a punter... we let them PROVE it before we declare our situation. We also like everyone in our group to have a wife or at least long term SO to ensure we "all" have something to lose.

I have found lots of Bros like to "brag" about what they have done and what they are going to do... and when the time comes... suddenly "I've got an early meeting tomorrow" or "I'm too tired".
