Why are Macau saunas so expensive compared to the rest of Asia.

Just out of curiosity... why are the saunas in Macau so expensive compared to the rest of Asia?  I mean, I've only been to 1 sauna in Macau, but it was 2200 HKD by the time I got out of that joint.  The line up is okay, it's not spectacular, the facilities were not that great, the rooms were not that nice, the service was not bad, but the service at most sauna's are not bad.  I've seen better line ups in China for half the price, same with Thailand and Msia.  Well, the amount of girls in the line up was impressive, something like 70-100 girls, but most were 7-7.5's.  Does anyone care to share their opinions on this..

I think because macau is legal so they need to pay the tax, etc. and china is illegal, they no need to pay any taxes. For thailand because the standart living in thai is much more cheaper than macau. Thats only what i think.  Also macau main business in casino so they target are rich people.

Not to mention the extremely high prices for real estate rentals, that increase by20% every second year.

I think the only real answer is "the customers keep coming", so the price is not wrong. Presumably, pricing is controlled by a small number of people with similar interests. Prices for screwing are cheaper in HK and PRC, but cannot do it all "out in the open" (legality), so people come to Macau where they don't have to look over their shoulders.

Still, this is all just speculation. For me personally, I don't go to PRC because I can't be bothered with the visas or the safety issues (maybe all in my head) of PRC punting. And while I do punt in HK, I like the sauna scene enough to come back to Macau for more on each visit.

Us bros here are into quality, quantity and bang for our buck. But most visit Macau to have a play in the casinos and i think the sauna owners' circle recognize that a few hundred HKD extra is probably not going to deter a deep pocketed gambler.

Agree with gherk that Macau does bring peace of mind unlike in the mainland etc. In my opinion Macau is also the most newbie friendly place to get some action, one can get decent action with ease. Elsewhere there are language issues, scams and not to mention needing knowledge and connections to get to where the action is lol.

Indeed China is problem prone in terms of language, so that is one major issue why some want access an easier way. But I agree (as stated in another thread here) that the prices are getting out of hand. Maybe I will return one or two times more, but after that, that's it unless the prices stop rising.

Indo-China especially and even parts of europe are just way better in terms of bang for your buck. Macau will just be a once in a lifetime curiosity I think.

On the otehr hand, I'm not sure how much more Macau can grow. I personally predict China's economy to slow down quite drastically in the next 2-3 years, and debt will start to become a concern. And that means less spending of governemnt money on gambling in Macau. But time will tell. Bad times for some is nor mally good times for others.
