#5 Post at 20-7-2013 00:58  Profile P.M.  Font size: S M L Is the cover charge just to discourage Chinese from going to these bars?  I mean is the doorman deciding how much to charge each person and pocketing the money?  If an ABC goes and speaks fluent English to the doorman will that be enough to avoid the charge, or is it strictly looks? Can't comment on Escape / etc. - my intel from experience is at another place at another time (a place that was very popular at that time) - but it's worked in the past. A lot of places just think (rightly or wrongly) that you are not going to order any drinks... i have only heard from a friend that this works - I am white enough that they never cover charge me.

This works, I did this for a black friend at Escape.  They initially wanted to charge him until he turned around and said he was with me.  They let him in with no problem.
