So much of sex is in the mind rather than the body. With civvies, I think there are often a lot of nerves associated with sex, and they want to please, etc etc etc.
With pros, well, let's just say its a job to most of them so not too surprising that they don't want you poking around too much.
In my own experience, I've also found that whether civvie or pro, if you can get one who is relaxed and willing to go with the flow, the results of a good fingering can be fairly spectacular. Especially if you can find the G spot and still convince them that they're not going to pee when you massage it
