Need Information for first visit to HK

Hi Bros,

I will be traveling to HK for the first time in the last week of November. I have a stay of 1 day at HK. Although I did go through the forum I am more confused and excited than ever,   A few quick suggestions needed for my queries.

1:-What would be the best Hotel to Stay in which is close to the Airport and Has no issues with WG Walk ins? Budget can be as high as 1000 HKD. I need to shop around as well so Looking for something that can satisfy shopping, punting and transit to the airport in a duration of 12 hours.
2:-I dont have a HK number, how do I get in touch with the WG's when Im there? I do see a lot of posts mentioning to have a HK number else they wouldnt respond.
3:-Are they any Legal implications for foreign nationals with cops? I know the trade legal but is it for foreign nationals too?
4:- With the above conditions taken care of would the pros tell me if its better to go with Walk up, Hotel Walk In or Bar Pickup? What would be the base prices of all three?

Will be keenly watching the thread for updates. Thanks a Bunch in advance.

Dear nkyptor, welcome to this forum.  However, I don't think anyone is going to spoon feed you this information, as the answers are already in this forum.  Your question makes it seem you have not read any of the information compiled here already.  May I direct you to the "sticky threads" at the top of the "Questions and Answers" forum.  In particular, the ones titled "F A Q for newbies" and "Police checks - rights and no rights".

There is a lot of information here.  Please take time to read, and then ask specific questions.

Then, REPORT what you have experienced.  Give back to the forum.

Thank you, and good luck.

12 hours is not much time.

Suggest you get the train to Central.  Book a hotel you like and use your hotel phone to call.

As already mentioned, there is plenty of info here.  I checked the forums and figured out what to do quite quickly.

I am sure you will have fun....

Hey Nkryptor,

As Gaoxing stated above, you will get more comprehensive information if you do a bit more due-diligence in searching the forums.

  1. As a frequent traveler, i have a lot of SPG points (Sheraton, Westin, W, etc.). If you are loyal to this brand, there are 3 different SPG properties in HK -- the Sheraton in TST, the W at the ICC, and Le Meridien cyberport.  Of the 3 hotels, the Sheraton costs the least (in points or $$) and is the most conveniently situated for punting in TST.  The W however is in the ICC and has direct access to the Kowloon station and the Airport Express train. Due to aforementioned points, you can stay at these lovely hotels for free . (25,000 pts for the W per night, you can upgrade it to a suite with your suite upgrade rewards. 16,000pts for the Sheraton, likewise with the upgrades). As you can see, price was not part of my consideration so much as hotel brand + location.

  2. Pay-as-you go sim cards are really cheap... especially if you are use to getting raped by ridiculously high telecom charges from north america.  Just obtain one from your local Circle K or 7-11. You just need a network unlocked phone.  For your own safety reasons, i highly suggest you have a functional cell phone (roaming or with a local sim) wherever you go. You never know when you need to contact someone fast!

  3. Legal implications are detailed much clearer in the stickied threads that was mentioned above. Read those thoroughly for your own safety.

  4. What you select here is up to you.  From personal observation, it appears that most girls with unpixelated faces in the Gal DB are mainlanders with very shoddy cantonese and non-existent english. Usually the papasan will be fluent in Mandarin, Cantonese, and basic English to help with the arrangement.  If communication with the WG is your primary concern, i'd suggest bar pickups. However, you will most likely end up with a Filipino or Thai as they troll the Wanchai bars in greater numbers.

Being able to communicate ranks high in my personal punting preferences.

Once again, read up on each of the forums to find out what you want to do as well as what are the expectations and the pro/cons of each approach.  24hrs isn't a long time so make sure you read and plan ahead!

Play safe and good luck!

bugger getting a hotel, waste of time and money if you're not going to make full use of it

i suggest you check your luggage at the airport,
pack light in your backpack (toiletries)
buy yourself a full day pass (unlimited rides)
make your way to central, then to either causeway bay or tst
look up a sauna with HE for a good wash, half arse massage and HE
then you can go for a feed and a little shopping
make an appointment for a few sessions with a hotel walk in
more food and shopping
perhaps another quick pop with a walk up
before heading back to the airport
