Not sure if you've heard differently but a MMS from a ZH SN told me that all the SNs and most KTVs in Southern China due to some government meeting. Is that true of all Guangdong cities or just ZH?

i was just in CP 1 week ago, so it is not true of all GD

It is true places are on high alert but I am still happily punting in SZ.

Just when i was planing a quick day trip this weekend.

LAst nite when I cross the border, I saw the immigration officers were extra alert in doing their jobs.

Usually they dont even bother to check for back pack or small handbags.
Last nite, they stopped almost all and peruse through what;s inside the bags.

I also saw, a few officers outside the parking lot chasing away illegal taxi driver trying to pick up customer and telling the civillians to move away from crowding the main door.

I wouldn't stress to much as the bags checks at customs are more to do with new taxation laws affecting purchases of electrical goods in HK. Mainland are missing out on tax as people are buying things cheaper in HK.

There have been a lot of police where I am in SZ too, pulling over trucks etc. As well as at the border, although I did not get stopped.

Not heard of any crack downs in SZ though.

In the past even when LE raids the joint, the mgt still can arrange me to fuck behind the building's dark toilet.
All I need is a phone call away.

Honestly I think it is safe in SZ but just play safe.

Even in the massive crackdown of 2008 I was able to punt away.
Bar street Shekou was closed, all BBS closed and all saunas were closed.

It just meant all WGs went to "normal bars" for their clients.

Obe, I think you are right.  Not everything is shut down, but things won't be so obvious either.  I would certainly use more caution this week and next, to be sure.  I found the original poster's phrasing of, "some government meeting" to be humerous.  This is much more than just some meeting!

This has been discussed on going starting around June of 2012. Many places have been raided and started back slowly. Most SN you have to call or know somebody to get in.  Some KTV girls are wearing street cloths. Many BBS were raided and shutdown. It is estimated things will be back to normal after the gov't election or meeting.

The biggeest News was a 5 star hotel SN was raided called Royal Garden in Dongguan during the summer 2012.

I just went last week with a friend to DG and was able to get good service still. However, the place i went to looked relatively new. The mamasan even picked us up from the train station (AND dropped us off back there too when we were done).

The border officials were definitely scrutinizing more though. I think the same punting rules apply here: look respectable and you will be ok.  Oh, and when you hand over your passport or other documentation information, have it opened to the right page and facing the right direction. Use both hands to hand it over to them too as this is a sign of respect (a slight nod/neck-dip-bow is optional).  Usually this brief moment of meekness will save you a lot of trouble and challenges from the officials

We are talking about raids by LE and busting the fuck joints, not how to behave when crossing the chinese immigration.

Even if you look like Tom Cruise or as respectable as President Obama, but if you are caught red handed by the local authorities in a fuck joint, they would not give a shit as to how you look or your manners / attitude.

Man, just through the immg officer your passport. Let them flip and find it themselves. It;s their job to flip passport.

Zhuhai is experiencing some of what is being discussed in this thread.

1.  Confirming that they are now requiring x-ray of carry-ons(even the Jui Zhou Port)  

2.  Confirming that Zhuhai Holiday Resort Sauna(it's way in the back away from the main road) is closed until Nov 19th.  My buddy and I verified this by taking the taxi there and finding out that it was closed.  A quick call to the PPS furthervalidated this.  

3.  KTVs, at least the two I frequent appear to be operational last week.  ChangAn International and "Wang Fu"  

4.  Some of the sleazy 'hit-it-and-split-it' joints are still operating, but may be cautious of new clientele.  Easier get some action if you know someone or are a regular.  The sauna(not really a sauna) at Changan International Hotel appears to be up and running.  However, one of the girls I wanted to see weixin'd me and said the company is suspending operations?   Strange as I punted there the same day she messaged me.

Reason I said "some government meeting" is cause when I asked the MMS if they're closed down because of this she said no, and that GD has their own internal meeting and some big guns will be passing through ZH. She said it had nothing to do with the handover so I wanted to know what else was going on.

Anyways, I spoke to the MMS again. Apparently a bunch of the girls went to Macau and are working at various SNs (low end ones like Windsor, Golden, etc..). So I guess now's a good time to head to those lower end SNs to check out the quality (although you're paying a bit more than you would in China).

I went to MB SN on Sat evening.
Business as usual.
But not too many customers.

I went to RG KTV later, not full house. A lot of leftover chicks.
Place seems less busy as before. Easy and less stressful to pick chicks.
A lot of empty rooms.
Chicks with Classy dress code making them more desirable. Bring back old good time.
Though I notice at least 10 to 20% of these chicks are playing hard to get and been more cocky, i.e. hanging their tag indicating they are not convenient to overnite.
I picked one for drinking but after 5 hours of mingling, she agrees to let me take her back.
Barbie are filthy hot and cost 5K short time 10K overnite, if I recall. We were too late, and all barbies were grabbed by old dudes.
I also saw a blonde foreign chick, not sure what category she was but she and the barbies are only available by request.
Still a good place for KTV and classy ambience.
But I dont think it is suitable KTV for party animals and chicks are not that wild.
Pricing increase madly, especially for ST and LT.
