12 hours in HKG, can I get to macau?

I am flying into hkg about 10pm and leaving at about 10am the next morning.  Rather than just spending the night I was looking for a macau like sauna which is open all night to spend my time, but it looks like that does not exist in the city.  So then I thought, how about going to macau overnight?  I've never been before so I might be pushing it... Any thoughts?  Could I make it over to spend a few hours and head back?

Yes, but you must board the ferry before midnight from Hk then proceed immediately to your prefered sauna in Macau then stay till 7-8am before taking ferry back to HK.

If you get into HK by 10pm then you would miss the last boat from the airport to Macau at 10. So best if you get into the city and catch the turbojet boat at Sheung Wan. This journey will take roughly 2 plus hours so get into Macau by 2am or before.

On your return, you can catch the first boat to the HK airport at 7:30 to get to the airport by 8:30, enough time to get your flight. Remember best to buy your ticket as early as possible as tickets are limited. If you want to get back earlier then you can catchthe boat into HK then travel to the airport. This will depend on the boat schedule but again expect a 2 hour journey.

thanks for the info!  Based on this I am not sure if it will be something I will do... Just seems too tight.  Fortunately I'll be coming back from thailand, so I will only regret not going to macau, but won't hate not having gone since I'll definitely be having my fill through the previous 3 weeks ;)

Maybe just go into hkg and hang out overnight for dinner then to a few bars and finally back to the airport before my long flight.

Just to share my information from having done the Macau-HKIA ferry route a couple of times. If you're going to purchase the tickets online, your flight departure time must be at least 3 hours from the Macau ferry departure. So if the Macau ferry to HKIA departs at 7.30am, your flight departure from HKIA has to be 10.30am or later. If it's earlier, the website won't let your purchase the ticket.

I've also tried asking the ticketing dude at the Macau ferry terminal and also got the same answer. Maybe if one is fluent in Cantonese and can talk well, you can do a tighter connection.

Cheers!

Seems a bit rushed, a little delay here and there might make things even more troublesome! Hope things go well for you, you'll roughly get about 4-5 hours of fun before you have to head onto the ferry from Macau back to HK. Good luck!

Yes, if you want to go direct, you can only do so by turbojet...at least for now.

If you insist on going by land and have infinite time, you can go from Hong Kong to Shenzhen to Zhuhai to Macau.

They're building a super bridge from Hong Kong to Macau scheduled to open in 2015.  When finished, you can take a bus/taxi and get there in 20 minutes.  It will no doubt change the face of Macau mongering drastically.

Here a thought 10pm in HK airport, 12:30 in wan Chai ( makati neptunes etc) couple of hours drinking picking a girl.

3:30 to the Beverley or Ming court - couple hours shagging.

530 - 6:00 head back the airport or add another hour or 2  to hotel a give the girl a couple more squirts.

My advise would be makati and Indonesian girl ...

Taking in all the comments and advice made above, it still is very possible as long you plan it well and you run.

First, make sure you get enough sleep before you arrive at HK as you will be doing an all-nighter during those 12 hours.

Second, as soon as you arrive and pass HK immigration/customs, leave all your luggage at Left Luggage station. Traveling light allows you to run around (literally). Take some clean clothes that you will change into in Macau. Toiletries will be supplied in the saunas.

Third, run to the HK Airport Express station and get on the train for a direct ride to HK island. If you are lucky, you will arrive at HK Central station at about 1145am. As soon as you pass through the turnstiles of Airport Express station, take a quick look at the taxi queues. If they are short, jump into cab and tell them Shun Tak Centre - Macau ferries. (you should get some HK dollars beforehand, HK$100 is enough).

If the taxi queue looks very long, then ask for directions for the Shun Tak Centre. Walk/jog on pedestrian bridge for 10-15mins to Shun Tak Centre (it is a red modern bldg). Once on the ticket selling level, browse the various travel agencies to see what sauna packages (ferry tickets + girls + etc) are available. Make sure you don't dawdle too long deciding on package as you do need about 15 mins to clear immigration before departure. You want to aim to board the 1230am sailing. (If you had pre-purchased ferry tickets online, then the packages will not seem so appealing - go straight to immigration).

Fourth, Oh yes, make sure you prepurchase return tickets from Macau to HK. Make sure you get a 630am sailing reservation which will get you back to Shun Tak Centre by 7.35am or so. If you should ever feel nervous about making your flight, you can always go on standby in Macau and take an earlier sailing back to HK. But make sure you have that confirmed 6.30am reservation.

Fifth, like Asia-play wrote, you will be at the Macau sauna by 2am. Enjoy your session(s). Don't go overboard and drain all your energy as you do have to rush back to HK and run back to the HK Airport Express train station so you can get on a train by 8am-820am. You still need to get your luggage at Left Luggage and check-in.

Lol, with all that sex and running around, you may lose some weight. Just remind yourself that you will have all those hours aboard the flight home to catch up on the sleep. Good luck!
