Depending on the type of visa you get... Usually it is a multiple entry visa you can use for 6 months or 1 year. Make sure to ask for a multiple entry visa when you apply.

Yes in an out as many times as you want so long as the visa is valid.  Make sure you take care of the visa here in the States though.  The cost of a single entry is the same as multiple entry (why this is, i have no idea). I have had the misfortune of forgetting to get a china visa and needing to get it in HK.  Cost is  $160 or so plus any rush fees, but you only get one entry.

In Los Angeles now they don't even seem to offer the single entry Visa anymore.

Depending on where you are from, sometimes they can be funny giving people multiple entry visa's - this is my experience anyway. I was not allowed a multiple entry visa until I had my HKID - even though I have had them in the past... Ever since the Olympics up until I got my HKID they just stopped giving me them

But, also again depending on where you are from, you can buy a visa at the border - but you have to stay within Shenzhen.

If you go to Lo Wu border - you can buy a single entry visa for Shenzhen - it is 304 RMB (For English Passport) - you have to pay in RMB and make sure you have RMB before you head to the border, as they will scam you in the exchange rate. A visa at the border will allow you to stay in Shenzhen for 5 days.

$304 rmb for a English passport, so cheap.  We silly americans have to pay 3x that much for the same visa.  But I think China is only charging what US charges their citizens for a visa.  tit for tat.

It is usually the same. If we want multiple entry then it gets pretty expensive.

We've had the same oddness around multiple entry visa's from Canada. The first few times I came to China, only single or double entries were provided even if I applied for the multiple. It seems like for my whole company, the third time is the charm. On our third application it tends to get approved.

Only $30 (CAN) more than a double, but SOOO much more convenient.

Can't wait to get back over there
